The Senior Program Officer (SPO), TB Delivery contributes to the long-term goal of the program by working to ensure new TB products are delivered in a rapid, effective, and impactful manner in high TB burden countries, as well as, working to ensure that delivery perspectives are fully considered during product development. In addition, the SPO works to improve the use of existing tools and delivery approaches by country programs, including the better use of data and evidence for planning and implementation.

Areas of Responsibility: 

Use pilot programs, implementation research, modelling studies, and other data to determine how new TB tools and interventions can be delivered in a more rapid, effective and impactful manner in countries.

  • Work with existing programs associated with the Foundation or with other partners to leverage experience for global policy and use.
  • Work with modelers to assess impact of new tools and interventions delivered in different settings.

Collaborate with product development initiatives, including TB drugs and diagnostics, to ensure products being developed incorporate the delivery needs of countries.

  • Ensure all TB products have data-informed use cases, value propositions and business cases.
  • Ensure target product profiles of new TB tools and interventions incorporate delivery realities.

Collaborate with a range of internal and external partners to define and implement commercialization or launch strategies for new products, addressing the key barriers to uptake.

  • Tap into the market dynamics and launch expertise of various partners to develop commercialization and launch strategies.
  • Determine how to prepare the market in countries for uptake and explore approaches to drive uptake, using existing or incremental tools as pathfinders for the introduction of future innovations.

Build collaborations with key funders and implementation partners at global level to improve the use of existing tools and delivery approaches and prepare countries for adoption and uptake of new TB products and tools.

  • Work with key donors at global level (e.g. Global Fund, UNITAID) to improve planning of national TB control efforts through better use of data and evidence
  • Work to address key TB delivery gaps globally including but not limited to those related to private providers, early diagnosis, and adherence
  • Incorporate the uptake of new TB products into their strategy and portfolio and work to ensure donor funding is used for product uptake at country level.

In support of those goals, the SPO TB Delivery will:

  • Develop and manage grants and contracts; rigorously review progress toward key milestones and impact, anticipate need for mid-course corrections, and propose appropriate changes.
  • Contribute to integration of strategies and execution of plans across TB & other Global Health and Global Development teams.
  • Identify & cultivate partners to build coalitions and achieve objectives; manage partnerships to achieve impact.
  • Be a representative of the foundation at external meetings.
Educational Background: 
Master’s degree required (e.g. MPH, MBA) while MD or PhD is preferred coupled with 10+ years of experience

The responsibilities of this role require that the successful candidate has:

  • Thorough knowledge of TB care, epidemiology, and control within the context of developing country health systems.
  • Experience working in TB delivery activities in high TB burden countries.
  • Knowledge of pharmaceutical and/or diagnostic product introduction and commercialization.
  • Strong analytical, synthetic skills.
  • Competency with data analysis, modeling, simulation, statistics/econometrics and other quantitative skills.
  • Ability to work in a collegial, collaborative fashion with a wide range of people.
  • Proven strength in structured problem solving and strategic business planning.
  • Excellent oral, facilitation, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to question and challenge colleagues including managers and partners in constructive manner.
  • Effective collaborator with an ability to prioritize and experience working in a matrix environment is preferred.
  • Experience in developing and managing strong partnerships and relationships inside and outside the organization.
  • Ability to travel up to 30% of time domestically and internationally
  • Ability to work with flexibility, entrepreneurship, and diplomacy both individually and as part of a complex team effort.
