Senior Program Officer, Diagnostic Development

The Innovative Technology Solutions team is looking for an experienced professional to lead our work in diagnostic development, with a primary focus on developing protein-based diagnostics for foundation priority diseases. The role will require working with a range of technical and scientific partners, government agencies, and other organizations in the public and private sector.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Design and lead the development novel diagnostics tools for foundation priority diseases, including internal coordination with program strategies and external management of partners.
  • Scope, shape and manage a portfolio of activities and investments to support strategy implementation.
  • Develop investments with clear, measurable outcomes and milestones.
  • Actively manage the underlying relationships with grantees, vendors, and partners.
  • Analyze and synthesize lessons and results to inform and improve the overall diagnostics strategy.
  • Identify and cultivate partners in support of program work; manage partnerships to achieve impact.
  • Attend conferences and meetings, both internal and external, to represent ITS as well as act as a foundation representative.
Skills/Experience: 
  • A minimum of 20 years of private sector experience in protein diagnostics development (focus on lateral flow immunoassays) in a stringently regulated environment.
  • Strong project management, sound technical judgment and track record of success in leading strategic initiatives in global, matrixed organization
  • Highly agile leader with proven ability influence data-driven strategy planning and implementation.
  • Ability to manage, organize and prioritize multiple projects and meet deadlines within a fast-paced environment with multiple and competing demands
  • Experience in key geographies (including Sub-Saharan Africa and India) preferred.
  • Innovative and collaborative problem solver.
  • Demonstrated ability to work and lead with efficiency, diplomacy, and flexibility particularly as part of a team effort. Experience in working on teams with diverse cultural and professional backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated excellence in written and oral communication skills, and experience advocating and communicating with a broad and diverse audience.
  • Ability to travel up to 30% domestically and internationally.
  • A sense of humor.
  • Demonstrated passion for the Foundation’s values with a commitment to deliver results against the Foundation’s mission
