The Senior Manager, Procure to Pay (Payroll) will provide strategic thinking, business analysis, process redesign, technology leadership, and project planning in guiding Payroll and Procure to Pay strategic initiatives, while ensuring the delivery of Payroll services and processes to meet the business needs and regulatory requirements globally. 

This role will own payroll service delivery, operational performance management (metrics, process ownership, continuous improvement), team management (management and development) compliance (employment and tax law and required actions relating thereto, etc.), business solutions (process redesign, technology, tools, and strategic outsourcing), vendor management and implementation of key initiatives (business case, requirements, program management, and resource planning). This role requires significant process, technical, change management, communication and influencing skills.

Primary daily responsibilities center on global payroll and related activities worldwide, especially on developing and controlling all tasks necessary to accomplish the foundation’s payroll processing needs, managing relationships with internal and external auditors, governmental authorities, and outsource providers worldwide.

Core Responsibilities

  • Define and lead the strategic direction for payroll processes, systems, and technologies, leading the service delivery, and implementing scalable, sustainable solutions
  • Make clear commitments by plainly defining scope, deadlines, costs, and resources
  • Partner with Global Payroll Providers to manage operations to ensure the smooth, timely, and accurate delivery of Payroll services globally
  • Ensure compliance (regulatory reporting and remittance) requirements are appropriately addressed
  • Develop internal and external (including necessary vendor relationships) partnerships that leverage resources and improve responsiveness
  • Foster strategic partnerships across the Finance and HR leadership teams, management, and internal counterparts in GFAS, Compensation and Benefits, HR, Legal, Tax, and Treasury to ensure first-class delivery of payroll services
  • Influence global process owners, key stakeholders, and managers across multiple geographies to drive ongoing process improvements
  • Create, lead, and grow a high performing Global Payroll and Procure to Pay team comfortable operating in a highly complex, dynamic, and frequently ambiguous environment; anticipate future knowledge, skills, and abilities and perform needs analysis to identify gaps in skills
  • Build a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration within the Payroll and Procure to Pay team consistent with the mission, vision, and values as a whole
  • Ensure that all operational processes are controlled from a risk perspective, and have built-in control self-assessments to regularly review their effectiveness
  • Work closely with GFAS management in broadening cross-training capacities within Procure to Pay and GFAS​

Supervisory Responsibility:

  • You will manage a team of professional payroll staff (currently two internal and three external contract staff) and external vendor relationships, and be expected to work collaboratively with professionals in GFAS and across the foundation
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree in Business, HR Management, Finance, or related discipline preferred
Skills/Experience: 
  • Demonstrated track record of successfully driving change and managing payroll operations in a diverse global organization
  • Regulatory knowledge and awareness to ensure that the firm is meeting reporting and remitting requirements
  • Excellent fiscal management skills to ensure that financial controls are in place and properly functioning
  • In-depth understanding of HR and global payroll processes
  • Problem solver with strong project management skills
  • Outstanding work ethic with a high degree of confidentiality
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, relationship and consensus building skills with the ability to influence at all levels of the organization; effectively gains agreement and on consensus for ideas
  • Able to work effectively in a multicultural and international environment
  • Able to effectively manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Knowledge of process management; experience in process re-engineering
  • Demonstrated ability to navigate and balance global process standards with local implementation
  • Experienced in identifying and mitigating operational risk through effective controls
  • Minimum 8+ years’ experience in a leadership role in Payroll and Procure to Pay operations and solutions, preferably in a multi-national outsourced environment
  • Knowledge of current Payroll best practices required
  • Managed and shaped significant third-party service delivery relationships at a deep multi-national level
  • Experience in working with Procure to Pay process and activities essential
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, HR Management, Finance, or related discipline preferred
  • Global and/or regional experience across a large, multi-continent footprint highly desirable
  • Extensive Workday or similar HRIS/payroll systems experience, as well as Concur and Microsoft Dynamics 365 highly desirable
