Senior Development Director, Heart Walk

We currently have an excellent opportunity for an achievement driven fundraising or sales professional to fill the Senior Development Director in our Puget Sound Division. Based in Seattle, the Senior Director will lead a dynamic staff and volunteer team responsible for the overall planning, management and implementation of the Heart Walk campaign in both Seattle and Tacoma, with direct accountability for a net revenue goal of $2M+.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Provides the leadership and strategic vision for the Heart Walk Campaign in Seattle and Tacoma, driving to established AHA best practices, to achieve the overall fundraising goal
  • Develops, implements and manages a comprehensive, proactive, year-round plan focused on corporate accounts, both existing and new, resulting in high level cash sponsorship and team participation
  • Manages a team of professional staff towards achieving established goals and outcomes
  • Drives the process of identifying, recruiting and activating C-Level volunteer participation
  • Oversees the coordination of the of Heart Walk events in accordance with expense and event guidelines. Ensures effective and efficient method for tracking event volunteer recruitment and event results.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
Skills/Experience: 
  • 5 years successful experience in fundraising, outside sales or marketing
  • Demonstrated experience in effective staff management
  • Ability to delegate and accomplish results through strong C-Level volunteer recruitment, training, and management
  • Highly effective organizational, communication, negotiations and interpersonal skills. Detail oriented and ability to multi-task
  • Self-starter able to work well in a team driven environment.
  • Ability and willingness to travel and to work evenings and weekends as needed (10-15 face to face meeting weekly)

Here are some of the preferred skills we are looking for:

  • Experience in identifying and closing high level (6-figure) cash sponsorships
  • Previous fundraising experience with the American Heart Association or similar non-profit voluntary organization
  • Knowledge of AHA’s mission and programs
