We are looking for a Senior Business Systems Analyst to join the Data Management team with a focus on Data Science processes.  The mission of our team is to enable data driven decisions across the foundation. Ensuring these teams have quick access to reliable, reusable, and cataloged data will enable them to achieve their goal to impact critical problems globally.

The Data Management team focuses on building, scaling and supporting a data management platform which enables our program strategy teams to store, catalog, share, search, and consume data. This critical information is leveraged to make data-backed decisions in support of the foundation’s strategies.

The Senior Business Systems Analyst will partner with our program teams to perform a thorough analysis of their needs with respect to data science workflows and processes while identifying functional and non-functional requirements for technology or process solutions. The role will also create a strong partnership with business and technical teams to collaborate on application solutions with respect to value, quality and end-user experience. Develop subject matter expertise in how programmatic teams use data, applications and the platform’s functionality and features.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Apply strong data science expertise and a systems analysis methodology to help guide solution analysis, working closely with both business and technical teams, with consideration of both technical and non-technical implications and trade-offs
  • Understand customer requirements for how programmatic data is used to make decisions within the processes; process mapping, optimization, and technology enablement
  • Work with customers, data scientists and data engineers to define and maintain data transformation pipelines and strive for greater functionality in our data systems
  • Partner with the Global Health Integrated portfolio management team to delivery features and functionality within their applications
  • Own agile epics within technical delivery, user story generation, confirmation of acceptance criteria and required sign-off’s
  • Help support day to day activities of the platform for customers support. This may include: creating KB articles, updates to platform manual and documentation, providing best practices and guidance, and diagnostics of issues that are escalated.
  • Organize or lead demos & user acceptance reviews, work with the technical team on the creation of design documents and artifacts
  • Develop a deep understanding of the technology used in the platform including development of data transformations on Azure Databricks
  • Work closely with the Quality team to ensure the systems are built and configured to requirements and design specification, coordinate the development of the test plan, test cases and facilitation of UAT
  • May drive the project management of smaller projects, lead responsibility for analysis work streams within projects of significant size or impact
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s Degree with 7+ years of experience, or equivalent experience
Skills/Experience: 
  • Strong interpersonal and customer relationship skills, including the ability to adjust work-style and communication to match an audience; across leadership, non-technical teams and data sciences
  • Ability to communicate to technology savvy customers and a strong understanding of data science workflows and practices
  • Deep data science experience working with both structured and unstructured datasets
  • Familiarity with custom development, open source products implementation, systems integration and Azure Cloud capabilities
  • Business requirement elicitation techniques, options prioritization and analysis, translation to technical functional and non-functional requirements, solution design, test planning, change management, vendor management
  • Proven experience building processes supporting data transformation, data structures, metadata, dependency and workload management
  • Experience with creating clear strategies, policies, procedures and system documentation
  • Experience facilitating with small teams, guiding work delivery and quality
  • Experience working with Data Analysts and Data Scientists
  • Experience working with Databricks, R code or Python
  • Experience working in Azure or AWS for data science workload
  • Demonstrated delivery with an agile development methodology
  • Proven track record of being part of a team delivering software solutions or services designed around customer needs
