The Senior Business Systems Analysts provides a thorough examination of customer need with respect to business process and data, identifying functional and non-functional requirements for technology solutions throughout the entire Business Intelligence (BI) and Report Development Life Cycle process. You will create a strong partnership with business and technical teams to prototype and deliver solutions with respect to value, quality and end-user experience. Development of subject matter expertise in foundation data, application and platform functionality and features is critical. This role also provides customers a conduit to engage in technology discussions about their problems to solve regarding BI. Reports to: Deputy Director, GARS.

Areas of Responsibility:
- Domain Subject Matter Expertise (SME): Apply deep functional domain expertise and strong methodologies to help guide solution options analysis, working closely with both business and technical teams, with consideration of both technical and non-technical implications and trade-offs
- Decision Criteria: Develop decision-making criteria and facilitation of decision process, including presentation and discussions with senior leadership
- Analysis: Data Analysis, including research, schema design, source to target mapping and quality verification, application/platform/integration impact assessments based on data, technology and/or business logic changes
- Data Modeling: Familiarity with creating/reviewing of Logical Data Model (LDMs) and Conceptual Data Models (CDMs)
- Work Process: Own story epics within technical delivery, user story generation, confirmation of acceptance criteria and required sign-offs. Experience working in SCRUM / Agile methodology and in common toolsets like Jira
- Prototyping: Organize or lead prototype development, participate in demos & user acceptance reviews, work with technical leads on the creation of design documents and artifacts
- Quality: Work closely with QA to ensure system is built and configured to requirements and design specification, coordinate the development of the test plan, test cases and facilitation of UAT. Expertise in Data Quality measurement
- Project Management: May drive the project management of smaller projects, lead responsibility for analysis work streams within projects of significant size or impact
- Communication: Key partner in communications for project owners and project managers, assisting with development of content and delivery of project communications and stakeholder management
Educational Background:
Bachelor’s Degree with 7+ years of experience, or equivalent
Skills/Experience:
- Strong interpersonal and customer relationship skills, including the ability to communicate to multiple levels of the organization and with non-technical partners to derive technical requirements and priorities
- Strong analytic and problem-solving skills, including the ability to arbitrate and objectively evaluate competing requests across the enterprise
- Take a strategic viewpoint and apply critical thinking skills
- Familiarity with custom development, packaged products implementation, systems integration and cloud-hosted solutions
- Business requirement elicitation techniques, options prioritization and analysis, translation to technical functional and non-functional requirements, solution design, test planning, change management, vendor management
- Experience developing conceptual data models and working collaboratively with architects to translate these to analytical models
- Subject-matter expertise in integrating, configuring technologies from multiple vendors
- Ability to create clear strategies, policies, procedures and system documentation
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Able to adjust work-style and communication to match team or audience, especially when working with non-technical resources
- Ability to work independently, multi-task and manage time
- Ability to facilitate small teams, guiding work delivery and quality
- 2+ years’ experience working with the Azure Cloud Platform (preferred) or similar (AWS or GCP). Configuration experience preferred but not required
- 2+ years’ experience with understanding and querying relational databases. SQL expertise required
- Demonstrated delivery with an agile development methodology
