Reporting to the Deputy Director, Total Rewards, the Sr. Benefits Manager leads and manages the foundation’s world-class global benefits programs (health, welfare, retirement, leaves) which includes: the development of innovative global benefit plans, effective management and compliance of the foundation’s global benefits programs, budget development and tracking with a focus on cost stewardship, supplier management including new supplier identification, implementation, and contracting. This role is also responsible for developing and managing innovative employee well being and health management programs that are aligned to the foundation’s mission to provide every person with the opportunity the live a healthy and productive life. 

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Leads the development of world-class global benefit plan design recommendations, using available data to identify trends, working with and managing global consultants, and understanding the global employee benefits landscape for new innovative ideas.  This includes the development of executive-level presentation materials and documents to support any recommendations.
  • Responsible for leading well being and health management program development with a focus on improving employee health.  This includes the integration of medical programs (including on-site health clinic), health management, wellness, and leave and disability programs.
  • In partnership with Finance, leads the work effort for determining annual global benefits budget, for tracking monthly benefits spend, and identifying areas for effective cost stewardship.
  • Work closely with internal and external legal counsel to ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
  • Lead the management of the Retirement Plans Committee, including working with external legal counsel and investment consultants.
  • Lead, manage and direct global consultants to ensure the effective delivery of global benefits.
  • Lead the development, maintenance, and dissemination of global benefits data dashboards, working with the Sr. Benefits Analyst.
  • Responsible for leading supplier management efforts to ensure a value-driven delivery of global benefits, with a focus on cost stewardship, quality member service.  This includes the maintenance of supplier management scorecards, regular review and monitoring of supplier performance, and the coordination of regular business reviews (quarterly or annually depending on the supplier) with a focus on innovation and cost stewardship.
  • Working with internal partners, ensure that existing contracts are renewed as appropriate and where needed develop performance guarantees and service level agreements to ensure quality member service and superior supplier performance.
  • Lead the work effort to identify new suppliers to support new innovative global benefit offerings, drive the completion and negotiation of contracts and work orders, and work with internal partners for implementation efforts.
  • Lead the development of executive level presentations.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s or other advanced degree with 7+ years of experience, or equivalent experience.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Strong business acumen and understanding of the global benefits function.
  • In-depth knowledge of global benefit trends, best practices, and regulatory issues.
  • Understanding of and ability to integrate benefits into a total compensation offering to employees. Strong oral/written communication and presentation skills.
  • Knowledge of global benefit compliance requirements.
  • Ability to build strong relationships and credibility with clients and key decision makers
  • Ability to work independently with limited direction.
  • Solutions oriented, proactive and identifies new ways of working.
  • Has strong influencing skills, and the ability to articulate a point of view with tact and confidence. 
  • Demonstrated proficiency using Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with ability to develop and gain support for ideas.
