The interim Senior Program Officer will lead the strategy, design, and execution of learning engagements that enable our philanthropic partners to become more informed and effective givers. This role will be responsible for building on an existing slate of learning opportunities for the Giving Pledge community across a range of issue areas (e.g. health, education) and cross-cutting philanthropy themes (e.g. family philanthropy, advocacy, etc.) and developing new engagements to help move partners to action.

Areas of Responsibility: 

Manage the Giving Pledge Learning Series

  • In partnership with Giving Pledge Relationship Managers, understand the interests and needs of philanthropic partners in order to execute against planned learning events in 2019 (approximately 8-10 events). Provide guidance for host partners to maximize impact of planned events and ensure optimal learning. Begin development of 2020 learning calendar with oversight from Deputy Director for Giving Partnerships.

Support for signature event for Giving Pledge signatories

  • Provide key project support for execution of the 2019 Annual Gathering, including development of materials such as briefings, discussion guides, and/or follow-up materials.

Grant and Contract Management

  • Provide oversight on grants and contracts in current portfolio.

Other Services and Internal Processes

  • Provide support and input on other services offered by the team to support a network of philanthropists (newsletter, internal website, foundation visits etc.) along with other resources to encourage and facilitate charitable giving by high net worth individuals. Track and measure progress of learning services against long-term goals in line with team practices.

Communications

  • This role is responsible for high quality interactions and clear and consistent communications with major philanthropic partners and other key stakeholders.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s or other advanced degree with at least 7-10 years of relevant experience

  • Experience developing major convenings for high-level principals with emphasis on strategic vision for events
  • Experience in philanthropic sector, ideally with familiarity of high net worth donors
  • Demonstrated success in roles requiring continued attention to detail, good judgment and the ability to ruthlessly prioritize tasks in a highly dynamic environment
  • Demonstrated excellent written and oral communication skills in positions requiring outstanding judgment and diplomacy in communicating with a broad and diverse audience, including foundation leadership
  • Demonstrated ability to handle discreet communications
  • Good people skills and creativity
  • Experience in a role requiring collaboration in complex internal and external organizations, as part of a team effort.
  • A deep commitment to the overall mission of the foundation, its programs, and an approach consistent with the foundation’s guiding principles
  • A sense of humor and flexibility to adapt to a very dynamic environment
  • Ability to travel up to 15%
