Interim Senior Associate, Payroll, Finance & Accounting

This is an interim backfill role to cover for an employee who will be out on parental leave.  The duration of the assignment is targeted for 14 months starting in July 2019. However, the start and end dates may change.

This role ensures accurate processing and recording of payroll, along with providing timely and accurate payroll/benefit related information and participates in daily Payroll processing and support.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Review all activities performed by outsourced payroll vendors including changes made to employee profiles within Workday. Including integration of payroll data to/from various external systems.
  • Ongoing review of reconciliation of data going out of Workday against 3rd party vendor reports.
  • Responsible for reviewing expat and international related payroll inputs and work with 3rd party vendor for final payroll calculations and to entry into Workday.
  • Responsible for processing regional/international office payrolls.
  • Works with various 3rd party payroll vendors and in-country partners to ensure all payroll and tax payments are made appropriately.
  • Review and validate all standard payroll Journal Entries.
  • Review and assist in completion of month end and year end payroll account reconciliations
  • Create and maintain international payroll documentation
  • Assist with answering general payroll questions

Financial Responsibilities:

  • May have limited financial responsibility as determined under Delegation of Authority.

Problem Solving:

Problems are somewhat complex and require research and careful review of options.     

Example: Each pay period the Provident Fund amounts much be reconciled, which consists of the following analysis to be completed: 

  • Ensure that employee portion of the PF are deducted from pay correctly.
  • Ensure that the PF calculation for both employee and employer portions are calculated correctly.
  • Reconcile employee deferral elections against payroll provider system reports.
  • Compare the totals from payroll reports against the funding request.
  • Ensure that the admin and other fees are calculated correctly.
  • Troubleshoot any variances to determine why the variance occurred.
Skills/Experience: 
  • International payroll experience preferred.
  • Experience with processing expatriate payroll, including an understanding of tax equalization. 
  • A background in Payroll, along with a working knowledge of best practices.
  • Strong PC skills, especially proficient in Excel.
  • Working knowledge of Payroll systems.
  • Strong knowledge of US federal regulations.
  • Ability to think critically and appropriately escalate issues and concerns.
  • Strong interpersonal (verbal and written) communication skills.  
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong organizational, multi-tasking, and prioritizing skills.
  • Strong reconciliation and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to deal sensitively with confidential material.
  • Strong work ethic and team player.
  • Work well with others under pressure and tight deadlines. Ability to adapt in an ever changing environment.
  • Ability to identify needs for system and/or process revisions, formulate requests and recommendations, and analyze post-implementation results of changes.
  • Strong ability to identify the correct systems and processes required to accomplish key tasks.
  • 5+ years of payroll experience.   International payroll experience is required.
