Senior Program Officer, Healthcare Technologies & Systems

The Innovative Technology Solutions team is looking for an experienced professional to lead our work in Healthcare Technologies and Systems. You will be responsible for steering and executing on an overall strategy to improve the overall healthcare technology landscape (devices, diagnostics, probes, other digital and software tools, etc.) in the developing world and its implementation in the healthcare system. Relationship building is key for this role requiring you to work with a range of technical and scientific partners, government agencies, and other organizations in the public and private sector.

By leading the implementation of an end-to-end strategy for healthcare technologies and systems in the developing world, you will be responsible to address key gaps and opportunities and leverage main trends. This includes understanding of existing technologies, device and diagnostic services, laboratory services, delivery systems and overall health care systems in the developing world. You will develop and manage investments and partnerships globally; steering and adjusting the strategy as needed in collaboration with key internal and external stakeholders (e.g. global health partners, governments, in country public and private organizations, investors, procurers, manufacturers, etc.).

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Use technical expertise to scope, shape, propose, and manage a portfolio of activities and investments to support strategy implementation.
  • Develop investments with clear, measurable outcomes and milestones.
  • Actively develop a portfolio of investments and the underlying relationships with grantees, vendors, and partners.
  • Analyze and synthesize lessons and results to inform and improve the overall diagnostics strategy.
  • Identify and cultivate partners in support of program work; develop partnerships to achieve impact.
  • Attend meetings, both internal and external, to represent ITS as well as act as a foundation representative.

Skills/Experience:

You must be prepared to work across a diverse set of disciplines, bridging a wide range of expertise all the while being an excellent team player, with a demonstrated ability to work with flexibility, efficiency, and diplomacy in an exhilarating, challenging environment.

The ideal candidate has a minimum of 10 years of private sector experience in field implementation of healthcare technologies; including devices and diagnostics.

Additionally, you should have:

  • Knowledge of technologies and end-to-end diagnostics services at all healthcare levels, centralized laboratories, delivery systems, and overall healthcare systems in the developing world preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and influence data-driven strategy planning and implementation.
  • Experience in key geographies (including Sub-Saharan Africa and India) preferred.
  • Ability to develop, organize and prioritize multiple projects and meet deadlines within an exciting work environment with multiple and competing demands
  • Innovative and collaborative problem solver.
  • Experience managing key relationships with global partners and developing country governments.
  • Demonstrated ability to work and lead with efficiency, diplomacy, and flexibility particularly as part of a team effort. Experience in working on teams with diverse cultural and professional backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated excellence in written and oral communication skills, and experience advocating and communicating with a broad and diverse audience.
  • Ability to travel up to 30% domestically and internationally.
  • A sense of humor.
  • Demonstrated passion for the Foundation’s values with a commitment to deliver results against the Foundation’s mission.
