The Donor Relations Manager (DRM) supports The Nature Conservancy’s conservation goals in New Mexico by working on a variety of fundraising activities in support of approved tactics, and provides programmatic and administrative support to the Philanthropy Director in NM.
The DRM will be responsible for supporting the NM Development Department including drafting correspondence and gift acknowledgments, assisting donors with asset transfers, processing and recording gifts, and planning logistics for meetings and other special events in NM. They will provide program information to prospects and donors, assist with writing development publications, proposals and performing donor research. Will use TNC fundraising management systems to produce donor reports, perform analysis and research and track prospects and donors. They will provide other staff with information they need to make decisions and solve problems by maintaining, tracking, recording and processing data. The DRM will work directly with mid-level donors by cultivating, soliciting gifts, and stewarding relationships.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND SCOPE
- Data base management including maintaining all aspects of donor records.
- Prepares reports and spreadsheets.
- Maintains records and processes gifts in BBCRM donor system.
- Meeting and event planning and staffing; travel for NM Board of Trustees meetings including minute taking and distribution. May participate in donor field trips or activities.
- Coordinates and prepares general mailings.
- Assists with all Development correspondence.
- Donor prospect research.
- Assists in writing reports, proposals and other publications.
- Tracks deadlines for all reports and other products.
- Assists with volunteer coordination.
- Acts independently on assigned tasks.
- Coordinates projects with several variables, while working within a defined timeline and budget.
- Does not supervise any staff, but may supervise interns, volunteers and/or temporary staff.
- Ensures compliance with TNC policies and procedures and external (donor/legal/IRS) requirements.
- Persuasively conveys the mission of TNC to diverse groups who are important to the organization’s overall prosperity.
- Refers difficult questions and unusual problems to supervisors.
- Occasional travel required primarily within the state of New Mexico; may need to occasionally work flexible hours.
- Work environment involves only infrequent exposure to disagreeable elements and minor physical exertion and/or strain.
- Work within scope of program’s strategic goals.
- Experience building relationships with staff, donors or similar.
- Experience generating reports and interpreting the data.
- Experience in business writing, editing, and proofreading.
- Experience working across teams.
- Experience, coursework, or other training in fundraising principles & practices.
- Experience with database administration and spreadsheet software.
- Experience with organization skills, accuracy, and attention to detail.

- Ability to use existing technology to achieve desired results.
- Direct fundraising related experience.
