Senior Campaign Manager, Light The Night - Inland Empire Walk

Responsible for generating critical fundraising dollars, overseeing and implementing integral parts of the Light The Night event to achieve and exceed revenue goals for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) within Riverside and San Bernardino Counties, with contributions to our Orange County geography as well. Inland Empire Light The Night revenue budget is set for $700,000, with $2 million overall campaign impact.

Day-to-day includes prospecting of potential sponsors, retail partners, corporate and friends and family teams. Travel to and from account meetings. Lead kick-off events. Mission education. Drive results.

The Orange County Inland Empire Chapter of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society seeks a Sr. Campaign Manager to lead elements of the chapter's Light The Night walks. Light The Night is an inspirational community event that raises awareness and funding for groundbreaking research and treatment options to eliminate cancer. This unique event brings light to the darkness of cancer through hope, research and support. Friends, families and co-workers form fundraising teams and millions of consumers help by donating at retail outlets.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Implement organizational best practices with regard to recruiting and managing high level volunteers, revenue generation activities, expense and fiscal controls and marketing/promotions and logistics resulting in chapter revenue growth and achievement of revenue goals.
  • Develop realistic and attainable strategies for the fundraising campaign, including fundraising goals, budget recommendations, vendors, volunteer goals, and timelines.
  • Consistently evaluate the effectiveness of the on-going fundraising campaign(s), including fundraising efficiency (cost/expense), community engagement, event satisfaction, and overall success of the campaign.
  • Ensure revenue goals are met by partnering with chapter leadership to identify, recruit, manage and steward volunteer committees and event participants.
  • Act as an on-site manager during all related campaign fundraising events; overseeing activities, staff, vendors, and volunteers to ensure satisfaction of participants, and resolution of challenges.
  • Develop positive volunteer interactions through recruitment, mentoring, and providing comprehensive support for volunteer leadership and participants to develop and achieve personal fundraising plans, while focusing on the mission of LLS.
  • Prospect, cultivate and steward corporations, community groups, schools, and key donors to engage them in the LLS fundraising campaign.
  • Manage and act as a resource to Campaign Managers, Specialist, and Campaign Assistants relating to their fundraising campaigns and efforts, as well as provide input for hiring, promotion, performance, termination of those supervised.
  • Negotiate contracts with vendors to secure the best rate and/or donation of services needed for the campaign.
  • Creatively develop/modify marketing materials (brochures, recruitment, promotional flyers, pledge forms) to promote the fundraising campaign.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of the LLS's mission and programs to promote the Society's fundraising, research, and patient initiatives.
  • Collaborate with other team members, volunteers, board members through participation in cross-campaign events
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s Degree
Skills/Experience: 
  • Minimum of 4 years fundraising, sales, marketing, communications and event planning experience
  • Mission-focused; constantly staying abreast of patient access, education, public policy & advocacy and research to best sell our mission.
  • Experienced in managing a living portfolio of accounts with fundraising/sales results.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; must be willing to cold-call.
  • Online guru – ability to capitalize on social media & emerging online channels to engage constituents.
  • Excited about public speaking, presenting in front of groups and leading meetings.
  • Proficient in prioritization through timeline management and effective multi-tasking.
  • Volunteer development and cultivation through effective recruitment tactics.
  • Energetic, enthusiastic, motivated and committed to excellence.
  • Capable of working well with a variety of personalities and leadership styles.
  • Go-getter, self-starter – have to be able to work solo and still get the job done.
  • Proven track record of prospecting, making the ‘ask’, closing the deal.
  • Passionate about management; motivate and collaborate with Campaign Manager/Specialist.
  • Must be organized!
  • Working knowledge of PC and MS Office Suite.

  • May be required to move Campaign materials weighing up to 15 pounds for various events.
  • Travel within the Chapter's designated area.
  • Required to work evenings and/or weekends.
  • Travel for Enterprise and/or Self-Development meetings required.
