This position will lead on developing and rolling out a partnership strategy and external engagement strategy. The partnership strategy will identify key implementing partners to help achieve child-focused relief and recovery goals. The external engagement strategy will ensure knowledge and understanding of Save the Children’s brand and mission and will also help to promote key program messages around child protection, resilience, preparedness and education. The position will provide managerial oversight of sub-grants and material support to organizations across Puerto Rico. S/he will manage the partner proposal process and will ensure regular monitoring and reporting. S/he will also manage all relationships with local media as well as key foundations and peer organizations across the island. This position will be report to Puerto Rico Director.
As a member of the Senior Management Team, contribute to:
- Leadership of the Response and Recovery Strategic Partnership and External Engagement Team
- Support the development of an organizational culture that reflects our dual mandate values, promotes accountability and high performance, encourages a team culture of learning, creativity and innovation, and delivers outstanding results for children
- Help design and implement a coherent organizational structure that is consistent with agency practices and appropriate to program needs
- Help establish, maintain, and improve active and regular working relationships with government agencies, partner agencies and donors.
- Coordinate with partnership and external engagement focal points from US Programs and from International Programs
Program Management
- Develop and implement a partnership strategy as aligned with and contributing to the overall strategic objectives of the emergency and recovery program.
- Leads on the management of a portfolio of active projects and assists in the ongoing development of systems and procedures to ensure the effective flow of resources grant recipients.
- Strategically identify and develop key NGO relationships.
- Develop and manage reporting and financial tracking of strategic partnership activities.
- Develop and manage partner agreements.
- In consultation with the Deputy Director Programs, contribute to the development and implementation of the strategic plan to improve engagement with communities, through key NGOs partnerships.
- Provide advice and guidance to internal stakeholders on the importance and effective methods of NGO engagement.
- Liaise with the relevant external stakeholders including donors, to develop high quality proposals.
- Assist with budget planning and monitor monthly budget versus actual expenditures; compile and analyze annual and budget submissions.
- Support the development of and manage sub-award agreements to partners, including wire transfers and ad hoc support.
External Relationships
- Maintain regular contact and strategic linkages with key media outlets across the island, including print, radio and television
- Develop content including press-releases, photographs and videos to share with media contacts and for our organization’s website
- Lead on the development and implementation of a social media strategy
Leadership and Capacity Building
- Build the capacity of partner organizations by delivering trainings, developing monitoring and feedback systems and regularly meeting and coaching key partner staff.

Required Qualifications
- Three to five years or more of work in communication, public relationship.
- Strong background in program development and grant management.
- Excellent skills in advocating towards government agencies.
- Experience working with other NGOs and coordinating inter-agency activities, strategies and products.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in Spanish and English for a wide range of different audiences including donors, journalists, beneficiaries, and the ‘general public.
- Experience delivering communications assets across multiple channels, including print, social and digital.
- An initiative-taking, proactive, inspiring attitude with the ability to manage and prioritize an unpredictable workload and solve problems quickly with needed support.
- Experience of delivering training, presentations and other capacity building activities to varied audiences.
- High-level analytical and strategic thinking skills and strong research skills.
