Under the direction of the Chief Program Officer and the Chief Development Officer, the Grants Program Administrator’s principal objective is to develop grant proposals and the management of the grants programs in order to meet organizational priorities. This position is based in the San Jose, California office.
The Grants Program Administrator will help achieve a $1 million annual goal from foundations and government funders, and have proven experience writing and securing $25K grant proposals. This position requires substantial independent research and data analysis, including internet research. To be successful in this position, candidates must have an understanding of Alzheimer’s Association programs, trends, and the ability to develop and report on evaluation methodologies and outcome-based measures, identify, develop, and maintain relationships with funders, balance multiple grant submissions and meet deadlines, and develop and maintain grant databases. This position requires deep internal & external collaboration with Program staff and Chapter offices to help maintain relationships with past and current funders, and to work with staff to create, describe and package programs. The Grants Program Administrator works closely with the Corporate Specialist on Corporate grants. Candidates will have considerable experience in not-for-profit grant writing and will be asked to submit grant writing samples.
This is a part-time, 30 hours/week position, located in San Jose, California, and reports to the Chief Program Officer.
- Develop and maintain relationships with funders, and identify viable prospects for grant writing to support Association activities (15%)
- Cultivate and manage relationships with appropriate foundation staff
- Initiate and handle all preparation for site visits
- Attend grants programs, application workshops and bidders conferences
- Research, develop and write grants using effective strategies to renew and upgrade funders (65%)
- Track application and renewal deadlines and produce on-time grant proposals
- Review periodicals, websites and annual reports of prospects to stay current on emerging trends and shifting priorities
- Gather relevant data on current chapter programs to be used in proposals and reports
- Collaborate with Program staff on tracking and evaluating program data using available databases
- Prepare financial and narrative reports as required by current grant funders (10%)
- Project Coordination: Maintain ongoing log reflecting grant activities and grant-reporting requirements and participate in budgeting process (10%)
- Actively communicate goals, objectives and deadlines to all grant-funded staff and proactively check in on a regular basis to ensure all staff funded positions are on track to achieve goals and outcomes

- Demonstrated experience in the field of grant writing, preferably in the non-profit sector
- Demonstrated track record in securing foundation and corporate grants
- Familiarity with foundation resources, e.g., libraries and publications
- Experienced user of word processing, spreadsheet and database applications, Google Apps, and Internet browsers
- Ability to work with diverse communities and demonstrate inclusion
- Ability to drive throughout the chapter territory as needed
