As the Alumni Program Coordinator (APC), you will play a key role in Genesys Works – Bay Area’s growth and success. You will be responsible for providing effective and supportive programing for Genesys Works – Bay Area alumni to prepare for and succeed in their college, post-secondary, and career endeavors. The primary objectives of the Alumni Program are to 1) provide college, post-secondary, and career resources and referrals, 2) track the progress of our alumni, and 3) re-engage them back into the Genesys Works core program. Initially, you will be reporting to the Program Director, and within 6 months the current APC will be transitioning to Alumni Program Manager (APM).
Key Responsibilities
Student Support – Direct Service (60%)
- Work directly with APC/APM to strategically divide case management load and responsibilities of over 200 current alumni
- Oversee, track, and support designated cohort of alumni as they transition from the GWBA core program into the alumni program and their chosen post-secondary path
- Attend core program CCC (College & Career Connection) nights to support Program Coordinators and develop relationships with soon-to-be transitioning alumni
- Deliver summer melt curriculum consisting of targeted college enrollment and persistence interventions to assist alumni based on their individual needs
- Conduct quarterly check-ins and track all alumni data—academic, financial, social-emotional, and career - in Salesforce
- Regularly monitor, engage with alumni, and provide targeted support through alumni texting platform
- Assist in oversight of the Alumni Worker Program in San Jose/South Bay with the direction/support of the APC/APM
Curriculum Development (20%)
- Maintain a database of college department and college success program staff in Excel and Salesforce.com to be used for bi-annual GWBA alumni program email updates
- Build a communications plan that reminds alumni of key deadlines, and college enrollment and persistence requirements – execute communication plan across multiple platforms (email, texting, LinkedIn)
- Refine and develop new curriculum and information for college specific resource pages and targeted college 1-page support documents
- Support data collection and analysis efforts to ensure accurate and timely alumni program status updates and reports
- Provide ongoing support, guidance, and resources for GWBA’s College Success Network alumni mentors
Event Planning & Support (20%)
- Develop and present informational workshops for transitioning alumni to support their post-secondary goals and inform them about the structure and benefits of the alumni program
- Plan and lead quarterly alumni events including but not limited to: Alumni Induction Ceremony, alumni reunion, Speakers’ Bureau training, and college support workshops
- Facilitate the reengagement of alumni in core program events, volunteer opportunities, speaking roles, and more
- Other duties assigned as needed
- In addition to working from the San Jose office, this role consists of working in the Oakland office and/or San Francisco office, remotely, and occasionally out in the community (college visits, one-on-ones with alumni, meetings with partner organizations, etc.)
- Occasional evening work required
Qualifications
- At least one of the following:
- College access experience
- Higher education and/or college success experience
- Student coaching or advising experience
- Youth Development experience
- Passion for the mission of Genesys Works
- High level of initiative to request support when needed, problem-solve when stuck, and bring solutions when faced with a challenge
- Proactive and clear communication style including accurate and concise written communication in emails, spreadsheets, presentations, and social media
- Ability to work independently and manage their own workload while also staying engaged with the larger GWBA team
- Timeliness, when it comes to work hours, deliverables, and communication
- Attention to detail, thoroughness, and organization
- Positive and helpful customer orientation when interacting with alumni, students, college staff, vendors, among others
- Bachelor’s degree
Preferred qualifications:
- 1-2 years of experience in college access programs, campus recruiting, academic advising, or other related field
- Knowledge or familiarity with the challenges low-income/first generation students face in college
- MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED: 4-year degree
