Amazon Frontlines is a U.S. 501(c)3 organization based in the Ecuadorian Amazon working alongside the indigenous organization Alianza Ceibo and the communities of four ancestral nations to advance indigenous rights and autonomy, protect indigenous rainforest territories and cultures, and conserve some of the most biodiverse rainforest on Earth and one of our planet’s greatest defenses against climate change.

We are looking for an experienced and responsible nonprofit finance and operations professional to work to support the operations work of Amazon Frontlines, including: accounting and finance, compliance and general human resources support.  


Areas of Responsibility: 

Accounting and finance:

  • Prepare detailed monthly spending reports to send to the accountant

  • Hold monthly and annual budget check-ins with program leads and hubs

  • Utilize Quickbooks to track organization spending

  • Correspond regularly with the accountant in Ecuador to align financial spending reports

  • Financial reporting to Board (in coordination with development team)

  • File staff expense reports and issue reimbursements

  • Reconcile and track organization credit card expenses 


  • Maintain schedule of compliance requirements and organize all compliance tasks for completion

  • Keep all insurance up-to-date

  • Support and coordinate the annual audit with the selected accounting firm

  • Coordinate annual 990 reporting with selected accounting firm

Human Resources:

  • Research and implement improvements in staff benefits and services to help AF remain competitive (insurance, retirement options, etc)

  • Assist with staff equipment order purchases for financial reporting purposes

  • Update employee handbook and security policy and procedures when necessary

  • Work with HR Manager to maintain organization of HR documents

  • Advise on any revision and updating of policies 


  • Assist in budget work for proposals

  • Financial reporting to foundations and/or other funders

  • Coordinate with development team to reconcile revenue on a monthly/quarterly basic



  • At least five years of experience with nonprofit compliance

  • At least five years of nonprofit financial management experience

  • Proficient in Quickbooks

  • Knowledgeable about US payroll policy and practice

  • 5-10 years of experience working with small and medium-sized nonprofits

  • Self-motivated; proven ability to work on a remote basis

  • Written and spoken Spanish proficiency required
