The Development Coordinator will work with, and support, the Asia Pacific philanthropy teams based in both the United States and in Hong Kong as needed.  The AP philanthropy team is responsible for generating support for our conservation programs across the region, including business units in Australia, New Zealand, Myanmar, China, the Pacific, Mongolia, Indonesia, and the Hong Kong regional office.  This position will be responsible for managing input and reports from the philanthropy database, BBCRM, as well as gift processing, prospect tracking, and stewardship. In addition, this person will also support travel and scheduling for the Asia Pacific Director of Philanthropy.

Areas of Responsibility: 

The Development Coordinator will work towards meeting the strategic priorities of the team by entering necessary BBCRM data, including prospect plans; implementing tactics for approved plans; completing and organizing interactions, generating reports, and monitoring activity. They will identify priorities based on needs of the program and will have substantial contact with key stakeholders across the Conservancy. This person and may also have a key role regarding outreach for the program to internal and/or external audiences. They will manage, track, and report on key data related to the team scope and priorities, and provide guidance to the philanthropy staff on use and/or processing of data. The Coordinator will perform independent analysis on key data in order to inform divisional or organizational activities, which may include donor or gift information. They may be responsible for processing gifts and/or participating in the development of organizational best practices. They will provide targeted training related to the functional area of the team. The Coordinator must maintain advanced skills with the systems and resources utilized by the team in order to execute tasks and provide direction to programs they are assigned to work with. They will implement processes and practices in order to improve effectiveness based on their in-depth understanding of related policies and procedures. The Coordinator will effectively communicate and distribute information to assist staff in making decisions, solving problems, and improving workflow. They may be asked to take on additional duties to enhance the work of the team.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND SCOPE 

  • Act independently on assigned tasks and exercise independent judgment based on analysis and experience.
  • Coordinate projects with several variables and work within a defined timeline and budget.
  • Does not supervise any staff, but may supervise interns, volunteers, and/or temporary staff.
  • Ensure compliance with TNC policies and procedures, and external (donor/legal/IRS) requirements.
  • Financial responsibility that includes working within a budget, processing invoices and transfers, and contracting with vendors. 
  • If needed, will coordinate with business units across the region to ensure that fundraising data, projections, and other needed information is accurate and up to date. 
  • Provide input through project teams for the improvement of existing programs.
  • Refer difficult questions and unusual problems to supervisor.
  • Travel and work flexible hours.
  • Work environment involves only infrequent exposure to disagreeable elements and minor physical exertion and/or strain.
  • Work is diversified and may not always fall under established practices and guidelines.
  • Work within scope of program’s strategic goals.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree and 2 years experience or equivalent combination.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Experience entering/analyzing data/generating data from customer data bases. 
  • Experience building relationships with staff, customers or similar. 
  • Experience generating reports and interpreting data.
  • Experience in business writing, editing, and proofreading.
  • Experience working across teams.
  • Experience, coursework, or other training in principles and practices of relevant field. 
  • Experience with oral and written communication.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Multi-lingual skills and multi-cultural or cross-cultural experience appreciated.
  • Ability to analyze information for the purpose of coordinating and planning activities, and solving problems.
  • Ability to implement processes and strategic program goals.
  • Ability to coordinate projects and work under pressure.
  • Ability to use existing technology to achieve desired results. 
  • Ability to write and edit written materials for use with donor solicitations, member communications, and special events. 
  • Experience interpreting guidelines to achieve desired results.
  • Experience with database administration and spreadsheet software, including managing and tracking data.
  • Knowledge of current trends in the specific field.
  • Strong organization skills, accuracy, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to proactively identify potential problems and to communicate those problems with the supervisor.
  • Willing to work across time zones as needed.
