The American Heart Association (AHA) has an excellent opportunity for a temporary part-time Corporate Development Director-Heart Walk 20 hours a week during the event peak season, September – December 2017. Responsibilities will include, but may not be limited to, community team cultivation, research and logistics.
Areas of Responsibility:
Cultivation
- Assist in identifying and recruiting new community teams and in developing new relationships forthe Heart & Stroke Walk within the San Antonio community. Candidate should be confident incold calling prospects and able to articulate the mission of the American Heart Association andthe goals of the 2017 San Antonio Heart & Stroke Walk.
- Assist in re-recruiting lapsed community teams and small businesses.
- Develop new and update existing lists of contacts: entertainment, companies, volunteers, etc.
Research
- Conduct research on companies that are new to the Heart & Stroke Walk.
- Create, manage and update lists of contacts for potential giving campaigns (i.e. Dentists withHeart, Lawyers with Heart).
- Donation solicitation for fundraising contests.
Logistics
- Learn the front end of the Heart & Stroke Walk website to assist walkers with registration, updating their personal webpage, emails and social media posts.
- Drop-offs: aid in the delivery of Heart & Stroke Walk materials (Team Captain packets, fundraising incentives, awards). Mileage will be reimbursed per the AHA expense policy.
Educational Background:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university preferred
College coursework combined with related experience may be substituted for a degree
Related experience may be substituted as follows: 1 ½ years experience equates to 1 full time year of higher education
Skills/Experience:

- Must have at least 2 years of experience in fundraising, outside sales or in a non-profit organization in a similar capacity. This experience may also count towards satisfying this position’s educational requirement.
- Must have the ability to lift at least 20 lbs from the ground to waist level with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Ability to accomplish results through strong volunteer recruitment and management, proven track record in meeting sales/fundraising goals.
- Organization, communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills are a must.
- Candidates must be results driven with the ability to multi task, and must also be willing and able to travel within the assigned territory up to 75%.
- Must have at least basic knowledge and skill with Microsoft Office 2010 used for word processing, email, presentations, and spreadsheets.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
