YMCA of Greater San Antonio
An opportunity to join the growing YMCA of Greater San Antonio Association Office team.
Under the direction of the SVP of Financial Development, the Director of Individual Giving is primarily responsible for planning and growing the association-wide annual giving campaign and volunteer program for the YMCA of Greater San Antonio. This position requires extensive planning and consultation with each YMCA branch and program location. Annual Campaign and volunteer management experience with the YMCA is strongly preferred, but not required. Experience in event planning is a plus.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Responsible for planning, conducting, evaluating, and growing the YMCA Annual Campaign.
- Manages the case development process for the annual campaign; including strategy, messaging, and timelines.
- Directs the annual campaign evaluation process.
- Analyzes and reports on campaign trends, including donor giving, retention, pledge collections, etc.
- Development, planning, and managing the Association-wide volunteer program.
- Develops volunteer training materials and strategies.
- Manages Volunteer Matters system for association wide volunteers
- Leads development of annual campaign and volunteer program materials, communication pieces, and audio-visual production in partnership with the Marketing and Communications Department and external vendors.
- Coordinates association-wide events related to the annual campaign and volunteer program including the Chairman’s Roundtable Breakfast, the Campaign Kick-off and Victory Celebration as well as Annual Meeting logistics.
- Coordinates and develops stewardship and recognition efforts.
- Other duties and responsibilities assigned by supervisor.
Skills/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree is highly preferred.
- 3-5 years of professional experience in development.
- Strong communication, networking and collaboration skills.
- Excellent team builder and team player, ability to work self-directed.
- Ability to manage teams of staff and volunteers.
- Strong interpersonal, analytical and organizational skills, capable of working effectively with board members, staff members, volunteers, and donors/prospects.
- Ability to represent the YMCA in a mature and professional manner building strong relations with leaders in a wide variety of organizations in the community.
- He/she must have a successful record of achievement in fundraising and volunteer managment, along with a proven ability to cultivate relationships within the YMCA and within the community. The incumbent will work with the Board of Directors, Branch Executives, Financial Development Committee, staff members and other volunteer groups to achieve maximum income from individual giving. Strong interpersonal skills are a must for this position.
- The incumbent must know how to plan, recruit and train volunteers. He/She will develop and implement a comprehensive training program for staff and volunteers. The incumbent will be responsible for all campaign / program related materials ensuring that current and potential donors understand the YMCA and how they contribute to the achievement of its mission.
- He/She will be directly responsible for the Staff and Community divisions of the annual campaign and will provide support to other aspect of the campaign.
- A Texas Driver’s license is required as well as capacity to drive to various locations within the greater San Antonio metropolitan area.
- Certifications required within the first week of hire: Redwoods Bloodborne Pathogens, Hazardous Communications, and Defensive Driving.
- Certifications required within the first 60 days of hire: YMCA approved basic life saving skills such as CPR, First Aid, AED, and Emergency Oxygen.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Work is performed in a fast-paced office environment.
- Visual acuity is required for reading computer screens and/or documents and making changes as necessary/required.
- This position requires analytical abilities and multitasking in order to identify problems and recommend solutions.
- Job requires accuracy and attention to detail, organizational, and time management skills, while maintaining high levels of initiative in order to work within deadlines.
- Occasional stooping and bending with regular lifting of up to 20 pounds is required.
- Incumbent must be able to stand for long periods of time, as well as be able to use keyboards, telephone keypads, and writing utensils.
- Uses best practices and demonstrates up-to-date knowledge and skills in technology.
