The Grants Assistant represents the Mission Operations team to a host of constituents including grant applicants and awardees, the senior physicians and scientists on our review panels, and staff and volunteers who contact the department for information. The incumbent is also charged with administrative support for the department.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Provide support to applicants, awardees, and reviewers when applying, reporting, and/or reviewing for a grant program
  • Input grant making and reporting requirements to the Grants Management Portal, Fluxx, in accordance with Grant Agreements
  • Maintain up-to-date information in Fluxx with regular communication to and from applicants, awardees, reviewers, institutional officials, LLS staff, etc.
  • Troubleshoot questions and issues from applicants, awardees, reviewers, institutional officials, LLS staff, etc.
  • Ensure satisfactory completion of reporting requirements by working with awardees, LLS’ Research staff, and Grants Manager
  • Assist Grants Coordinators with Grant Review and Progress Meetings annually, including attending meetings
  • Proofread and edit documents, as needed
  • Field phone and email inquiries and distribute, as appropriate
  • Maintain a working knowledge of the LLS mission and current programs to promote the field and campaign fundraising initiatives
  • Perform other related duties, as assigned
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree
Skills/Experience: 
  • 2+ years demonstrated experience in a multi-tasking, administrative position in a complex environment
  • Well-organized, detail oriented, and self-motivated
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Professional with sound judgment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in business English, spelling, punctuation, and grammar
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Proficiency in data management, basic accounting, and bookkeeping skills
  • Knowledge of standard business machines and computers
