Development Manager (Foundation)

The Development Manager is responsible for all development and fundraising activities, including private and public grants, annual member campaign, donor relations, and special events. This position is also responsible for directing the marketing and communication activities for the SVS Foundation.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Design, implement, monitor and evaluate the annual strategic development plan for fundraising in conjunction with the Executive Director and Foundation leadership
  • Actively seek grant opportunities in consultation with Foundation Board and Development Committee to effectively evaluate grant opportunities
  • Prepare grants for submission and insure that reporting is done correctly and on a timely basis
  • Collaborate with the SVS Director of Corporate Relations on the corporate outreach plan for the SVS Foundation
  • Collaborate with the Foundation Development Committee to develop fund raising goals for the annual member campaign and other Development Committee initiatives
  • Identify new donor prospects and fundraising sources through use of directories, online services, trade publications, and other sources.
  • Collaborate with marketing and communications staff on the creation of marketing materials, social media and other campaigns to support the overall fundraising strategy and strategic communications; this includes development of the Annual Report and distribution plan.
  • Maintain donor relationships and manage the Foundation’s Legacy Program donor recognition
  • Maintain the Foundation’s web pages on the SVS website
  • Manage donor solicitation, recognition, and the Foundation Gala fundraising event at the Vascular Annual Meeting
  • Oversee all administrative aspects pertaining to development including, execution and record keeping of LOA’s and management of accurate records including donor acknowledgment and donor cultivation
  • Carry out any other duties, as assigned
  • Committees

  • Serve as staff liaison to the Foundation Development Committee
  • Participates in SVS Foundation Board calls and prepares reports/presentations on behalf of Development Committee​

          ​Physical Requirements & Environment

  • Typical office setting with routine sitting and occasional standing. Routine use of basic office equipment and computer. Occasional local and out of town travel is required for this position. Occasional evening and/or weekend work maybe required based on business needs. Routine telecommuting is allowed.

Skills/Experience: 
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Minimum five years’ experience as a development professional, preferably in a medical association foundation, with a proven track record of success in fundraising
  • Experience with individual giving and developing private and public grant requests 
  • Working knowledge of fundraising concepts, grant and proposal writing, and donor relations
  • Experience with special event fundraising, including silent auctions and live auctions
  • Ability to construct, articulate, and implement annual strategic development plan
  • Knowledge of fundraising regulations and fund accounting
  • Ability to interact with high level contacts, including Foundation board and committees as well as corporate representatives
  • Experience coordinating and educating volunteers in fundraising activities
  • Ability to work effectively with all multi-disciplinary team members, both internal and external, to drive growth to achieve the mission and revenue goals
  • Highly motivated, results-oriented, and able to prioritize efforts to use limited resources efficiently
  • Demonstrated skills to apply effective oral, electronic, and written communication methods with colleagues and volunteers
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically in Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel required; ability to learn new technology as required
