The Community Outreach Coordinator is responsible for assisting the Arkansas Chapter in its strategic implementation, growth and quality of Alzheimer’s Association programs and services in the chapter territory. The position goal is to significantly expand the reach of the Alzheimer’s Association Community Programs. This position will be primarily responsible for coordinating and organizing community education, volunteer implementation and training, diversity outreach, facilities support services, and helpline services.
Measureable outcomes are increased consumer education and referrals to Chapter services and expansion of Volunteer Powered Program Delivery.
Community Programs (60%) - Increase delivery of Common Program Plan by 15 percent in 3 years with special attention to increasing participation among populations that typically have low involvement
- Expand the Alzheimer’s Association Volunteer-Powered delivery model. Identify, recruit, train and manage high impact volunteers to deliver the Common Education Programs and Support Groups.
- Plan, schedule, market and coordinate delivery of Association community education programs, support groups and social engagement programs.
- Oversee designated portfolio of Alzheimer’s Association Community Educators , Community Representatives and Community Volunteer leaders to assure expansion of quality programs throughout the chapter territory and increased referrals to 24/7 Helpline.
- Establish key partnerships in service areas for volunteer recruitment and outreach, focusing on one or more of Association’s identified priority populations.
- Representative at community events including health fairs, meetings, etc. as assigned
- Represent the Association as back up to the Program Director at Community Needs Assessments Forums in Chapter territory.
Community Partnerships (20%) - Develop new, sustainable community partnerships and volunteer supporters that increase referrals to 24/7 Helpline by 10% over 3 years
- Build referral partnerships with social service agencies and service providers and to identify prospective educational opportunities and volunteers.
- Assist Program Director in analyzing service data to identify gaps in delivery across the chapter and create opportunities to expand education and support programs.
- Collaborate with chapter staff and communications team to identify strategies to engage diverse populations on social media platforms and online communication channels (chapter website, e-newsletter, blog).
General Chapter Responsibilities (20%)
- Practice compliance with Core Services Quality Evaluation Initiative for Education Programs.
- Manage "Personify" function for designated portfolio within the Program Department, including data collection, direct client service delivery needs and up-to-date support group and education information.
- Cultivate and recruit supporters for chapter fundraising events like Walk to End Alzheimer’s and The Longest Day. Generate volunteer, media stories, and fundraising opportunities for Development Team.
- Attend chapter meetings and special events as scheduled.
- Remains knowledgeable and current on information related to Alzheimer’s and related dementias as well as national, state, and local initiatives that affect the State. Work collaboratively with the Development Department to cross promote and participate in varying degrees to the success and execution of all fundraising activities, including Signature Events (Walk to End Alzheimer’s and The Longest Day)
- 3 years of experience and understanding diverse communities, volunteer recruitment, and volunteer retention
- Excellent public speaking and interpersonal skill with demonstrated experience in providing educational, supportive, and informational presentations.
- Strong background and interest in Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias.
- Travel by car to attend meetings within the chapter territory. Work may be stressful during periods of high volume or tight deadlines
