Habitat SKC’s Repair Program is growing and seeks to hire a skilled and motivated individual to join our team as a Repair Site Manager. The person in this position directly implements and oversees critical home repairs serving low-income homeowners, and also supervises and conducts renovations to unoccupied homes to be sold to new homebuyers.

- This individual is responsible for day-to-day repair and home recycle project activities. The focus of this position is to:
- Manage and complete owner-occupied repairs in a safe, effective, and efficient manner, with special attention to detail and quality. Typical projects include, but are not limited to:
- Siding, fascia, and trim repair and replacement
- Deck and step replacement; ramp construction
- Window and door replacement
- Minor roof repair
- Wood fence and gate installation
- Lead-based paint encapsulation using lead-safe practices
- Concrete flatwork
- Interior work: grab bars, flooring, doors, millwork, cabinets, painting
- Interface with homeowners with diverse backgrounds and in vulnerable situations, conducting repair work with respect, compassion, and integrity
- Motivate, train, and supervise AmeriCorps crew leaders and volunteers for both Repair and Recycle projects
- Participate in trainings and events, and assist in accomplishing both construction and interdepartmental goals, as needed
- In addition to general experience in residential wood frame construction, the person filling this position must have knowledge of the issues and hazards common to working with older homes in various stages of disrepair, as well as familiarity with current construction techniques and applicable codes. The candidate must also have the ability to work and problem-solve independently, with an approach of flexibility and determination. While not all projects will involve volunteers or additional staff/AmeriCorps, the candidate must also understand and embrace the integration of the volunteer and homeowner workforce into the repair process and work with other staff, AmeriCorps, and volunteers to ensure and promote the agency’s strategic goals.
The ideal candidate will have:
- 5+ years of construction experience with an emphasis on repair/rehab work; at least 2 years of experience in a management role
- Ability to make thoughtful decisions in a timely manner; skills to calculate both material and logistical needs in a fast-paced work environment
- An attitude of flexibility, sense of humor, and grace under pressure; a professional and respectful approach to the job
- Energy and dedication to accomplish team goals using intentional interpersonal skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Willingness to work a Tuesday through Saturday schedule
- A valid driver’s license with a good driving record
- Certifications in the following (preferred, but not required):
- Renovation, Repair, and Painting (RRP) Certification
- OSHA 10 minimum
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to work effectively in both office and construction site environments
- Ability to adequately traverse a residential construction job site; working at heights, climbing ladders, lifting, carrying (minimum 50 lbs.) or other similar activities as required
- Ability to communicate assigned tasks and to convey information to staff and volunteers
- Ability to maneuver typical construction site obstacles and operate site equipment
