The Closing & Support Coordinator (CSC) is responsible for originating and working with third party lenders to originate mortgages for Habitat homebuyers in compliance with affiliate and industry standard rules and regulations The CSC is also responsible for supporting Habitat homebuyers throughout their mortgage term and after they’ve paid off their mortgage. This is a full time, non-exempt position, some evenings and weekends may be required as deadlines dictate.

Areas of Responsibility: 

Mortgage Origination & Loan Closing

  • Communicate the complex closing documents and process effectively with people of all educational levels and backgrounds with timeliness, clarity, and positivity
  • Underwrite all applications and loans in compliance with Fair Housing, Equal Credit Opportunity Act, and other relevant laws, obtaining background checks, credit checks, rental and employment verifications
  • Work within established guidelines to create mortgage solutions that provide the homebuyers with an affordable payment, utilizing all available funding and assistance resources
  • Coordinate the requirements of multiple funding sources and manage the closing process with attorneys, third-parties, title agencies, and other applicable entities
  • Other duties as assigned

Post-Closing Homeowner Support

  • Ensure each loan is established with third-party servicer(s) in a timely manner
  • Maintain positive, working relationship with current and former homeowners
  • Monitor mortgage portfolio, addressing any delinquencies in accordance with internal policies and procedures and utilizing federal and state resources as applicable
  • Monitor foreclosures and maintain timely communication with attorneys
  • Work with homeowners to address and guide them through any homeownership challenges
  • Establish or continue relationships with partner organizations, mortgage assistance programs, and other applicable entities
  • Other duties as assigned
Skills/Experience: 
  • 2-5 years’ experience in mortgage, title, or real estate industry
  • Excellent organization and ability to work on multiple projects at once
  • Must have strong time-management skills and work well with deadlines and timelines
  • Currently licensed or ability to be licensed as a state and federal mortgage loan originator
  • Knowledge of residential mortgage processing, underwriting, and closing procedures
  • Knowledge of conventional and/or government lending guidelines preferred
  • Must be a self-starter and a team player
  • Positive and passionate spirit with a tenacity for change and a calling to empower homebuyers
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish and/or Creole is preferred
  • Candidates must possess a valid driver’s license and have own form of transportation.
