Senior Regional Development Director

The Founders Affiliate of the American Heart Association is recruiting to hire a Senior Regional Development Director to lead our Upper Hudson Valley region. Some of the key responsibilities you will have include:

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • leading fundraising campaigns to meet/exceed the fiscal year 2018/2019 revenue goal of $655,000 ;
  • provide leadership to staff and volunteers for American Heart Association mission and fundraising activities in the Upper Hudson Valley region which includes Dutchess, Ulster, Rockland, Orange and Sullivan counties;
  • develop and implement a plan of revenue and mission growth through key fundraising events, strategic market partnerships and philanthropic donors;
  • lead the market Board of Directors to impact mission engagement, revenue goals and leadership recruitment for campaigns;
  • supervise, develop and coach the territory’s fundraising implementers on best practice strategies ensuring they are meeting goals.

This position is field focused with travel as needed in the territory. In this role, you will be based in our Poughkeepsie, NY office and will report to the Executive Director for Albany/Upper Hudson Valley.

Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university preferred. College coursework combined with related experience may be substituted for a degree.

  • ability to build partnerships with corporate leaders and senior level volunteers;
  • be a strong manager with the ability to coach and mentor to AHA best practices, sales methodologies, timelines and volunteer engagement practices to ensure that revenue targets are reached;
  • the ability to accomplish results through strong volunteer recruitment and management;
  • demonstrated ability to recruit, train, direct and supervise multiple staff in a team environment;
  • have a proven track record in exceeding sales/fundraising goals;
  • possess the knowledge and demonstrated ability to successfully identify, cultivate, recruit, and maintain relationships with top level volunteers/customers;
  • have great organizational, communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills;
  • have a proven ability to understand and navigate corporate cultures to achieve goals;
  • you must be able to work outside normal hours as needed including weekends, early mornings and evenings;
  • you must be willing to travel within your territory on a daily basis as well as occasional travel to other locations in the affiliate and to our National Center in Dallas, Texas for meetings or training.

Education:  Related experience may be substituted as follows: 1½ years experience equates to 1 full time year of higher education.

Experience: Experience in achieving revenue goals through fundraising, outside sales or in a non-profit organization that includes at least 1 year of experience in managing sales or fundraising staff is highly desirable. This experience may also count towards satisfying this position’s educational requirement.
