The Neighborhood Revitalization Director will lead the neighborhood revitalization (NR) activities of Central Berkshire Habitat For Humanity, aimed at partnering with residents and local organizations to transform our community into a vibrant, safe place to live for current and future residents. This role will coordinate the mutual activities of the neighborhood coalition.
Neighborhood Revitalization embraces an integrated, collaborative approach to community development. Local Habitat for Humanity offices work in coalition with neighborhood residents and partners to address the many elements that contribute to a higher quality of life, including health care, safety and economic development, in addition to housing.
Founded in 1992, Central Berkshire Habitat for Humanity is part of a global, nonprofit housing organization that builds strength, stability, self-reliance and shelter. Since this time, we have built and rehabilitated homes for dozens of families in Pittsfield, Massachusetts.
- As a member of the Leadership Team, assist in strategy development for the affiliate, specifically as it relates to neighborhood revitalization (NR) and the Quality of Life Framework Learning Cohort.
- Provide leadership for new program development or modification (specifically Home Repair programs, Aging in Place, Workforce Development Training Program, Neighborhood Action Teams)
- Develop and execute a comprehensive Neighborhood Reinvestment Plan serving low income families, including the construction of new homes, rehabilitation of owner occupied homes and the improvement of community facilities.
- Build and maintain strategic alliances and strong working partnerships with community based organizations, community action groups and local government departments.
- Identify, cultivate, solicit and participate in strategy development and stewardship of selected organizations working within the focus neighborhood.
- Provide direction and coordination of the neighborhood coalition activities; includes holding regular meetings, maintaining records, gaining consensus regarding mutual goals, planning initiatives to reach goals, and holding committee members, action teams and other stakeholders accountable.
- Establish metrics for success and collect appropriate data on performance and outcomes to measure social return on investment.
- Identify emerging needs and issues that impact housing, economic self-sufficiency, or community vitality and propose appropriate response and advocacy priorities.
- Serve as a facilitator for problem solving with community partners.
- Serve as an articulate, enthusiastic and visible spokesperson for Habitat.
- Scan the environment to identify new partnering opportunities with community organizations, individuals and groups.
- Partner with development staff to obtain grants related to NR and neighborhood coalition-building.
- Provide leadership for land/site selection identification for homeownership and neighborhood revitalization programs.
- Participate in local community development planning process.
- Actively participate in the following committees: Construction, Home buyer Services, Site Selection, Resource Development, Berkshire Bridges Coalition.
- Collaborate with other Habitat leaders to maximize the collective impact of the affiliate.
- Experience in community outreach, organizing and/or community engagement with demonstrated skills to bring together community stakeholders
- Ability to work well independently, with excellent skills in teamwork and collaboration

- Ability to communicate effectively, positively and professionally with residents, partner organizations, family members and others

- Spanish language fluency strongly preferred
- Experience in planning and budgeting, logistics, project management, volunteer development and fund raising
- Proficiency with software applications (word processing, presentations, spreadsheets, project management, etc.)
