Drives the full life-cycle recruitment process, from requisition to closure, in a timely and cost effective manner that is in compliance with all state and federal laws. Focuses on acquiring and providing oversight to a high-caliber and diverse pool of talent to fulfill staffing needs of the National Office. Develops and shares recruiting best practices with the chapters, as appropriate. Provides supervision for the Make-A-Wish Internship program, including campus outreach. Facilitates onboarding process for new hires.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Drives the full-cycle employee & internship program recruitment process, from requisition to closure, in a time and cost effective manner, focused on acquiring top talent to fulfill staffing needs of the National office. 
  • Reviews applications/resumes, interviews candidates, evaluates skills and competencies, conducts screenings, reference checks, and makes recommendations regarding candidate’s qualifications for key positions in the organization.
  • Manages the onboarding process by facilitating and managing the Day 1 employee experience.
  • Shares recruitment expertise by coaching managers and providing them with proper recruitment tools.  Provides leadership for intern mentor circles.
  • Leads and coaches the Talent Acquisition Coordinator & Talent Acquisition Specialist and assists in sourcing talent to fill the Internship program needs.
  • Collaborates with the HR VP to establish best practices for recruitment and shares with Make-A-Wish chapters as appropriate.
  • Develops creative and effective employment marketing techniques, including leveraging social media and University relationships to promote hiring opportunities at Make-A-Wish America.
  • Provides ongoing recruitment and headcount tracking related metrics.
  • Provides ongoing performance metrics and measurements of internship program goals, and utilizes various project management tools to track program milestones and key deliverables.
  • Identifies, researches and recommends targeted colleges for recruitment.   Maintains campus presence by attending career fairs, facilitating information sessions, interviewing top candidates, and participating in relevant school events.
  • Builds and manages ongoing relationships with college students through career center staff and professors, and actively works to enhance and expand the Make-A-Wish brand and presence across relevant areas of study.
  • Ongoing review of recruitment policies and processes to ensure staffing strategies meet organizational current and future needs, and are compliant with employment law.
  • Effectively manages the internship program budget.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Demonstrated experience managing the entire recruitment life-cycle.
  • Demonstrated experience with Applicant Tracking Systems.
  • Demonstrated experience with social media recruitment strategies.
  • Demonstrated experience with onboarding processes.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of all hiring state and federal laws.
  • Ability to source top talent, including passive candidates.
  • Familiarity with college and university recruitment strategies.
  • Ability to handle highly confidential and sensitive information.
  • Strong writing and verbal communication skills, demonstrating the ability to work with all levels of employees within the organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and negotiate. Experience in conflict resolution.
  • Creativity and passion to generate new ideas, and sourcing for top talent.
  • Ability to work with a variety of stakeholders at all levels in a professional and efficient manner to build collaborative relationships.
  • Working knowledge of Human Resources related hiring and employment laws.
  • Highly organized with excellent project management skills, attention to detail and the proven ability to multi-task.
  • Excellent organizational skills, handling multiple projects often under deadline pressure.
  • 3-5 years of experience in recruitment, preferably within an HR department.
  • 1-2 years HR Generalist experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications is required.
  • Experience with ADP, SilkRoad, and Descriptions Now packages preferred.
  • Prior experience working in a nonprofit organization is helpful.​ 

Working Conditions:

  • Work in an office environment.
  • Some travel required.
  • May require work outside a traditional Monday – Friday work week, and outside normal business hours.
