The mission at Make-A-Wish is to grant the wish of every child with a critical illness. The Learning & Innovation Specialist is a key contributor to the mission by creating and delivering development and leadership programs and solutions across the enterprise.

The L&I Specialist is responsible for creating and delivering development and leadership programs and solutions across the enterprise. Works with HR team to support organization wide initiatives, carry out the Learning & Innovation strategy, and assess opportunities for continued growth and development of leaders, employees, and teams.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Overall responsibilities for this position include: program management, instructional-design, performance consulting, coaching, relationship management and facilitation.
  • Serve as internal consultant on learning strategies, partner with HRBP in the evaluation, prioritization, development and implementation of solutions to develop continuous
  • Works closely with senior leaders, subject matter experts, and Chapters to understand business learning needs and performance gaps through organizational and/or department needs assessment process
  • Design, deliver, and lead cross functional learning solutions that address identified
  • Manage a variety of programs and projects, including the Make-Wish Leadership
  • Evaluate learning programs for effectiveness and desired outcomes and utilize feedback to initiate changes, refinements, and improvements
  • Works on one or more learning development projects simultaneously, using predefined standards and tools for learning content. Ensures high quality design, regular reviews with internal partners (i.e., from proof of concept through delivery) and subject matter experts
  • Clear understanding of generational differences and how it applies to various learning platforms and delivery
Educational Background: 
Bachelor's degree in HR, Instructional Design, Communications, OD or related field or equivalent work
Skills/Experience: 
  • Knowledge of all aspects of instructional design and delivery, including needs analysis , task analysis, sequencing, behavioral objectives , evaluation systems, formulating instructional strategies, developing and writing instruction, and media
  • Strong written and oral communication skills , especially in the areas of technical writing and facilitation/presentation
  • Demonstrated project mana gement skills, with ability to handle multiple projects and deadline
  • Ability to take initia tive, work independently , and be innovative and creative with course des
  • Knowledge of adult learning theory and the application of performance based training
  • Demonstrated ability to partner and interact with all levels of the organization.

Qualifications:

  • 2-5 years of experience in Instructional design and facilitation
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, as well as Instructional Authoring software
  • Working knowledge of nonprofit organizations is preferred, though not required

Working Conditions:

  • Work in an office
  • Some travel
  • May require work outside a traditional Monday - Friday work week, and outside normal business
