The Make-A-Wish internship program is designed for current undergraduate or graduate students who have a goal of being a leader in the non-profit sector. The purpose of the internship program is to help undergraduate and/or graduate students further cultivate their skills through a real-life work experience.
The Human Resources (HR) internship will provide the opportunity to gain professional experience within the areas of Benefits, Compensation, and HR information system (HRIS). The majority focus for this internship will be on leading the project to audit and ensure that we have a complete record of all current job descriptions. Additionally, the candidate will work with the Manager, Total Rewards and supervisors to ensure the job descriptions are an accurate and up to date reflection of the duties and responsibilities and job competencies required for the position.
Throughout the internship, duties and responsibilities could include:
- Coordinate and maintain employee records and job descriptions.
- Support HRIS workload, including system preparation, data entry, job aids, total rewards projects and reporting.
- Support record retention and maintenance of employee files.
- Participate in the creation, training and implementation of the roll out of a new Total Rewards Statement within ADP.
- Knowledge of HR functions, either through coursework or employment experience
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate information verbally and in writing with confidence and clarity
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality with employee information
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and internet research tools
- Ability to manage workload effectively including planning, organizing, prioritizing and meeting deadlines
- Project management experience preferred
- Experience using HR systems, such as Korn Ferry’s Competency Profile Manager (CPM) and Interview Architect (IA) preferred
- Some volunteer experience preferred
- Knowledge of and experience with the Make-A-Wish mission and service population is preferred.
