The Editorial Manager is a key contributor to the mission by developing and creating impactful communications across multiple platforms, such as web, print, video and social media.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Under the supervision of the Sr. Editorial Manager, writes, edits, proofreads, researches and works with stakeholders across the organization to ensure clear, accurate, strategic and compelling communications.
- Contributes written and editorial support to national-level marketing and branding materials to ensure quality and consistency of strategic messaging, including wish.org and communication and fundraising materials.
- As required, coordinates, reviews and updates all content for the various communications channels.
- Coordinates with members of the Brand Advancement, Development and Corporate Alliances teams to create synergy within campaigns.
- Assists with the day-to-day content selection and display for wish.org, ensuring a robust, diverse and engaging content that drives visitors to donate.
- Collaborates with leadership and other departments to develop and maintain the editorial calendar for the Wish Nation blog.
- Provides editorial and content support for the bi-annual Wishmaker publication.
- Assists the production process to ensure editorial materials receive the appropriate approvals for content, medical, statistical and policy accuracy.
- Follows the Brand Advancement workflow process including use of project management tool for all projects.
- Assists with the oversight of freelance writers, ensuring clarity, professionalism, quality and consistent Brand voice and style.
- Performs other job-related duties, as assigned.
Educational Background:
Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, English or related field required
Skills/Experience:
- Demonstrates strong written and verbal communication skills, including experience proofreading and editing in AP Style.
- Possesses excellent interpersonal skills when dealing with all levels of the organizations and external relationships.
- Engages effectively and collaboratively with professionals at all levels of the organization.
- Experience analyzing, organizing and prioritizing work while meeting multiple deadlines.
- Minimum of 2-3 years experience in professional communications
- A background in fundraising/development and corporate communications is preferred
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, content management systems and social media platforms
- Prior experience working in a nonprofit organization desired
- Highly organized and detail-oriented
- Ability to handle multiple projects on deadline
- Must possess the ability to succeed in a learning environment
- Timely attendance at the office is an essential duty
- Portfolio work required; must be compromised of work written exclusively by the writer
