The IT Business Systems Analyst is responsible for reviewing, analyzing, and supporting the development of requirements and related solutions for projects with information technology impact for Make-A-Wish® America. This individual will work closely with IT and cross-functional teams to develop software, infrastructure, and data solutions that align business requirements to technology capabilities across a variety of initiatives that support the organization’s strategic plan.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Business Analysis – sets operational objectives by understanding business needs and challenges. Leads and manages discussions to elicit, document, and evaluate business requirements that align with concrete business problems/needs across a variety of impacted teams and stakeholders.
- Systems Analysis – actively evaluates technologies to align capabilities with business requirements and translates business needs into technical solutions in collaboration with developers and designers. Negotiates requirements with the business by presenting options and their associated costs/timelines.
- Process Improvement – identifies opportunities to optimize processes supported by technology and engages with stakeholders to assess gaps and identify solutions
- Problem Solving – uses critical thinking to evaluate business requirements, formulate strategies for applying solutions that fit within cost/timeline constraints, and identify options that support future growth.
- Bridging Leadership – serves as a supporting resource that bridges business stakeholders with operational IT teams on projects where IT resources are required and surfaces technology challenges or risks to project management. Seeks out solutions proactively and works with subject matter experts in IT and cross functional teams to assess impact to the broader IT ecosystem of systems and applications. Builds a trusting relationship with business constituents.
Educational Background:
Business, Information Systems, or similar Undergraduate degree required.
Skills/Experience:
- Business Analysis – experience in leading requirements interviews, applying elicitation techniques, applying requirements traceability and other requirements documentation best practices, and managing change/defined scope in requirements.
- Detailed Coordination and Organization – can manage multiple projects at once, keeping all responsible parties focused and facilitating decision-making where requirements conflict.
- Software Design & Development – experience with software development analysis, including detailed familiarity with the software development lifecycle. Understands software design and usability best practices. Familiarity with digital/cloud technologies.
- Process Improvement Mindset – ability to recognize opportunities to increase efficiency and effectiveness of business processes that are supported by technology to ensure that the organization gets the most value out of the initiative.
- Technical Insights – experience in framing key business requirements questions to elicit the most thorough and detailed requirements possible.
- Bridge IT with the Business – ability to facilitate engagements that encourage collaboration and transparent, consistent communication between the IT team and its many constituents.
- Technology Aptitude – experience with current technologies like Salesforce, Blackbaud technologies including Luminate Online, and digital technologies like Drupal.
- Strategic Mindset – having a big picture view of opportunities, with the ability to define tactical implementation plans.
- Project Financial Acumen – ability to assess solutions for cost, provide cost effective recommendations, and identify cost savings opportunities to maximize ROI.
- Collaboration – understands organizational dynamics, navigates expertly and can achieve success in a consensus driven, team-oriented environment
Qualifications:
- Experience with Agile methodologies.
- Experience with project management technologies is a plus. (Workfront and/or Smartsheet experience is preferred)
- 5+ years professional experience in demonstrated business analysis and/or business systems analysis.
- Strong computer skills required, specifically in Microsoft Office applications, including Visio or other workflow development toolsets.
- Familiarity with HTML prototyping technologies or Illustrator a plus for development of mockups, wireframes, and interactive prototypes.
- Prior experience working in a non-profit organization desired.
