The Accounts Payable & Receivable Supervisor is a key contributor to the mission by serving as a supervisor for the AP/AR team and the day-to-day payables/receivables workflow for chapters that have elected to use Centralized Financial Services (CFS) as well as the national office. Works with Financial Shared Services Manager to update, enforce, and provide input on all processes and procedures within the AP/AR function. Ensures an exceptional level of customer service is provided to chapters and vendors, and staff. generating revenue by developing, cultivating, and managing national corporate alliances which provide funding, mission critical in-kind resources, employee activation, wish-related elements, and promotional opportunities for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. 

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Process invoices for MAW chapters and national office ensuring accuracy of payees and general ledger expense coding, and appropriate approvals.
  • Process purchase and wish card expenses.
  • Provides training and coaching to Accounting Specialists in day to day operations and compliance with foundation and non-profit regulations.
  • Ensures all processing functions are completed timely and accurately by the team, which supports monthly financial timeline.
  • Assists in creating and updating standard policies and procedures and best practices associated with Accounts Payable and Receivable functions.
  • Ensures the proper maintenance and accuracy of vendor files and performs maintenance and clean-up of data as needed.
  • Assists in month-end processing, account reconciliation, and adjustment processing as needed.
  • Active department super user for certain technology tools. Trouble shoot technical issues.
  • Assists with gathering of information and documents for internal and external audit process.
  • Follows guidelines and procedures in order to be GAAP compliant.
  • Responsible for annual IRS 1099-Misc. reporting ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Performs other job-related duties, as assigned. 
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in general business or accounting required.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Exhibits exceptional customer service skills; ability to work professionally with employees, chapters, and all levels of staff.
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to multi-task and handle progressive deadlines.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle highly confidential and sensitive information.
  • Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication.
  • Strong problem-solving skills necessary to answer questions and concerns in the area of accounts receivable and accounts payable.
  • Ability to manage large volumes of data entry on an ongoing basis.
  • Minimum 2 - 3 years of experience in accounting and/or bookkeeping field.
  • Technical experience with multiple financial/banking systems. System implementation experience is a plus.
  • Ability to 10-key by touch.
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel and Word. Database data entry & reporting required.
  • Working knowledge of nonprofit organizations is helpful.
