Oversees the accounts payable and donation processing functions of Centralized Financial Services (CFS), which provides accounting services and support to self-elected Make-A-Wish chapters. The Financial Shared Services Manager will mentor direct reports, handle escalated chapter concerns, and facilitate continuous quality improvement to the Accounts Payable and Donor Care processes. Works with others on the CFS team to provide exceptional customer service to chapters.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Oversees the CFS team’s accounts payable and donation processing functions to ensure financial transactions are recorded accurately and timely.
- Handles escalated chapter concerns associated to accounts payable or donation processing.
- Reviews work performed by Specialists and Coordinators and provide training, guidance and coaching.
- Responsible for implementation of new IT tools to aid in the efficiency of departmental procedures.
- Monitors internal and management control systems within the department.
- Creates and maintains written departmental policies and procedures manuals for the CFS team and participating chapters.
- Supports the annual audit process including gathering of information and documents for chapters, as needed.
- Reviews, researches, and analyzes data. Responds to inquiries from chapters.
- Provides support to Director of Finance, CFS as needed.
- Performs other job related duties, as assigned.
Educational Background:
Bachelor’s degree in Business or related field required.
Skills/Experience:
- Knowledge of financial accounting, accounts payable and/or revenue processing.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills to network with team members, chapters, and other departments within the organization.
- Excellent organizational skills, with strong ability to plan, prioritize, and multi-task.
- Exhibits exceptional customer service skills; ability to work professionally with external partners, chapters, and all levels of staff.
- Excellent knowledge of internal and management control systems.
- Knowledge of accounting and information systems applications, preferably in a non-profit environment.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with a high level of trust and confidentiality and possess strong business ethics.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 - 5 years of experience in accounting and/or in a non-profit environment.
- Minimum 2 - 3 years leading, coaching and developing others.
- Working knowledge of nonprofit organizations is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications required, including demonstrated expertise in Microsoft Excel.
- Experience in Raiser’s Edge and Financial Edge strongly preferred.
