Responsible for the delivery of writing and editorial services. Maintain the story telling style for Make-A-Wish, and strategically managing its use in all collateral. 

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Writes, edits, proofreads, researches and works with others across the organization to ensure clear, accurate, strategic and compelling communications.
  • Coordinates, reviews and updates all content for the various marketing channels.
  • Writes and/or edits all national level marketing and branding materials to ensure quality and consistency of strategic messaging, including all content for the Make-A-Wish global website and all nationally-distributed marketing materials.
  • Coordinates with members of the Brand Advancement, Development, and Corporate Alliances teams to create synergy within all campaigns.
  • Assists with the day-to-day content selection and display for wish.org, ensuring a robust, diverse, and thought provoking display of interesting, engaging content that drives visitors to donate.
  • Collaborates with leadership and other departments to develop and maintain the editorial calendars for Wish.org and the Wish Nation blog.
  • Coordinates, edits and writes content for bi-annual WishMaker publication.
  • Assists the production process to ensure editorial materials receive the appropriate approvals for content, medical, statistical and policy accuracy.
  • Follows the Brand Advancement workflow process including use of project management tool for all projects.
  • Assists with the oversight of work of freelance writers guaranteeing clarity, professionalism, high quality, and consistent voice and style in all Make-A-Wish materials.
  • Performs other job related duties, as assigned.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree in Communication, English or related field required.

  • Demonstrated strong written communication skills, with experience in a professional environment, including proofreading and editing.

  • Organize work, prioritize, and delegate to meet deadlines, and make timely decisions with sound judgment.

Required Experience

  • Minimum of 2 -3 years experience in professional communications, including consumer publications, website copy, social media, development and corporate writing.
  • Strong computer skills required, specifically in Microsoft Office applications
  • Prior experience working in a non-profit organization desired.
  • Portfolio work required; must be compromised of work written exclusively by the writer
  • Result and detail-oriented
  • Ability to handle multiple projects on deadline
  • Must possess the ability to succeed in a learning environment
  • Timely attendance at the office is an essential duty

Working Conditions:

  • Work in an office environment.
  • Some travel may be required.
  • May require work outside a traditional Monday – Friday work week, and outside normal business hours.
