Community Health Specialist

We have an immediate opportunity for a part time temporary Community Health Specialist. This position is part-time (15-20 hrs/week) and expected to end February 28, 2019. The schedule will vary, based on programs and events, with some work on nights and weekends as necessary.

The Community Health Specialist will support activities and projects for various AHA community health mission education and outreach activities in the Philadelphia area, building public health awareness through partnerships with local agencies, community service organizations, and health facilities.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Provides support for or delivers assigned health related community programs including multi-cultural healthy lifestyle awareness and education, healthy choices nutritional education, CPR training or other related AHA sponsored community based programs.
  • Keep track of all events and photos, utilizing Excel and SharePoint
  • Participates in weekly meetings to report out activities.
  • Serves as an AHA representative with key community organizations and partnerships.
  • Plans and coordinates volunteer and committee meetings including preparing agenda and presentations.
  • Respond to emails and phone calls in a timely manner
  • Assists in the management of multiple volunteer groups associated with assigned health focused program.
  • Makes site visits within region as required.
  • Aids with creation and production of materials for campaigns and programs.
  • Schedules meetings and coordinates travel for Health Strategies team, as requested.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor's Degree
Skills/Experience: 
  • Two (2) years of experience in project management and supporting community programs and events
  • Excellent written/oral communication skills, as well as demonstrated skills in consultation and meetings management
  • Expertise in creating documents in MS Office Suite
  • Excellent organizational skills in fast paced environment
  • Ability to work some nights and weekends as necessary
