Latino Caregiving Intern

We are looking for an intern with a passion for supporting caregivers and helping to build a program with national impact. AARP is creating a model program to support Latino Caregivers in Los Angeles County. Our vision is to create a program that is replicable and sustainable in Los Angeles and other communities across the nation.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • You will be part of a team supporting a new project in Supervisorial District 1 in Los Angeles County that supports Latino Caregivers. Your responsibilities include volunteer management, community outreach, and program evaluation.
  • You will recruit and manage a team of volunteer Care Coordinators who assess the quality of services provided to caregivers in the designated geographic targets and collect data and information to Community Events and Community Education teams that are in community helping to raise awareness of the importance of caregiving and the resources available to support family caregivers. 
  • You will help manage program logistics and prepare and conduct briefings and presentations on the program. Team skills are essential as you will be part of a strong collaboration of community partners, staff and volunteers who are committed to ensuring Latino caregivers have the resources they need to support their important role.
Educational Background: 
Interns must be currently enrolled in a degreed program at an accredited college or university; be in good academic standing; and be considered rising undergraduate juniors or seniors or rising first or second year graduate students.
Skills/Experience: 

AARP also considers non-traditional interns who are looking to re-enter the workforce or change careers.  This may include those who have previously graduated college and are now enrolled in a continuing education program. 

Additional Requirements:

  • Bi-lingual in Spanish/English
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, presentation, and computer skills.
  • Demonstrated understanding of multicultural audiences, specifically Hispanic/Latino
