Site Supervisor

The Site Supervisor will act as Habitat for Humanity’s representative on site during all phases of construction, coordinating activities between Habitat, subcontractors, community volunteers, Americorps, homeowners and County inspectors. The build location may vary from a single home repair to a development with townhome(s) and/or multiple home builds in progress. All crew leaders at the build location report directly to the Site Supervisor. 

Work Schedule: Fulltime 40 hrs/wk. Evening and weekend work will be required, Tues-Sat.Travel will be required between Habitat offices, suppliers and build locations. The Site Supervisor is expected to be available by phone at all times while work is being conducted on-site, and is expected to spend at least 50% of the day at the site to observe and manage activities. 

Areas of Responsibility: 

Safety

  • Ensure that daily safety briefings are conducted with all workers and volunteers, and that all work on-site is executed in a safe manner. The work site(s) must also be maintained in a safe and orderly condition at all times.
  • Ensure that all safety equipment is in good condition and adequate supply and that other site equipment and tools are maintained in safe working order.

Planning & Coordination

  • Coordinate with the Construction Manager to set and review the build schedule on a weekly basis to ensure that the work is carried out efficiently.
  • Work with the Crew Leaders to set the tasks to be accomplished to meet the agreed build schedule with the volunteers, subcontractors, equipment and materials available.
  • Ensure that the schedule is maintained and that subcontractors are starting and completing work in a timely manner, while ensuring that they are performing high quality work in a safe manner.

Material Management

  • Inspect and sign for all material deliveries, confirming that the quantities and quality of materials are correct prior to approval.
  • Assure that all materials are stored in safe, secure manner so that they won’t be stolen, damaged by weather or construction activities. Materials must also be stored in an orderly manner, so that they are easily accessible and don’t pose a risk to other workers at the site.

Inspection

  • Inspect work daily to ensure conformance with Building Codes, County requirements, developer construction rules, buildings plans and specifications. In the event of conflict between these requirements, the Site Supervisor must inform the Construction Manager immediately.
  • Represent Habitat for all County inspections of the work in progress.
  • Manage conflicts and issues that may arise between subcontractors, volunteers and others on the site.
  • Ensure that the general sit condition is maintained in a safe and orderly manner, including management of housekeeping, trash removal and servicing of portable toilet facilities.

Communication

  • Be the liaison between Habitat and the County, Developer, volunteers, and subcontractors, providing communication to/from Habitat Construction Manager on any issues that may arise.
  • Contact the Construction Manager on a daily basis with a brief report of site activities.
  • Ensure that pictures are taken each day to document the work completed, and that these pictures are uploaded to Habitat electronic files.
  • Email/upload copies of all invoices and delivery manifests to Habitat office as they are received.
Educational Background: 
High School Diploma, or equivalent required. College and/or trade school preferred.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Minimum 5-10 years construction experience required, with minimum 2 years of site supervisory experience. Habitat build experience preferred, with Habitat site supervisory experience and Blitz experience a plus.
  • Must be a licensed General Contractor (R100 or B100) in Utah, or have met the Utah DOPL requirements to be a “qualified person” for Habitat’s General Contractor license. If already licensed in another state, must be willing to take the necessary steps to be licensed or act as a qualified person in Utah, which may include taking additional exam(s) in Utah.
  • Must have very good communication skills and be comfortable using a computer for email, spreadsheets and word processing. Spanish language skills a plus.
