The Development and Outreach Department of Human Rights Watch (“HRW”) is seeking highly qualified applicants for the position of Associate in the Paris office to provide support for the 2019 Paris Voices for Justice Annual Dinner. The Voices for Justice Annual Dinner is a fundraising event held in 23 cities worldwide that gathers supporters to celebrate important human rights achievements and fundraise for the organization. The Paris Annual Dinner will take place on 13 November 2019. This position is full time at thirty-five (35) hours per week and requires availability to work occasional night events. The position is anticipated to start in mid-September 2019 and end in late-November 2019. The Associate is based in Paris and reports to the Paris Development and Outreach Coordinator.
- Provide ongoing logistical, technical, and administrative guidance and on-site support for the 2019 Paris Annual Dinner including but not limited to, scheduling, preparing for and taking minutes at meetings, entering RSVP information in the Raiser’s Edge database, coordinating deliveries and onsite schedules, liaising with vendors, and supporting technical pre-production;
- Assist in ensuring efficient project coordination and information sharing among HRW staff planning the 2019 Paris Annual Dinner;
- Organize and archive Paris Annual Dinner materials internally;
- Prepare, format, and distribute written and visual materials on behalf of HRW staff planning the dinner;
- Assist with fine tuning, monitoring and troubleshooting systems including registration, seating, place cards, the live auction, fund-a-need, pledge card, and checkout;
- Assist in recruiting and liaising with volunteers and instructing them onsite; and
- Perform other responsibilities as may be required.
- One year of relevant work experience is required.
- Self-motivation and the ability to prioritize with minimal supervision and work independently as well as function as a member of a team with staff in multiple global locations are required.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in both English and French are required.
- The ability to work well under pressure and to manage multiple priorities, working effectively toward deadlines is required.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate with a wide variety of audiences, including donors and external partners are required.
- Strong proficiency in computer programs including MS Office applications is required; experience with Raiser’s Edge or other donor databases is highly desirable.
- Strong interest in international human rights is highly desirable.
