This position will manage the grants program, will serve in a support role for the Annual Campaign, and social responsibility initiatives.

In accordance with the bylaws and policies established by the Board of Directors, this position works with the Vice President of Strategic Development in the funding, implementation, and administration of strategic, social responsibility driven initiatives. This position will manage the grants program and serve in a support role for the Annual Campaign, Association-wide fundraising events, and donor recognition events. This position will also assure quality in delivery of multiple outreach and needs-based programs and provides best practices for branches in community engagement work.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Manages the administration of grant proposals to foundation and corporate funders including research, writing, submission, reporting, and contacts.
  • Takes a leadership role in the organization of written grant requests as opportunities arise.
  • Assists with the planning, organization and execution of the Annual Campaign at the direction of the Vice President of Strategic Development.
  • Support branch/department initiatives related to grant funding & Annual Campaign goals.
  • Supports as needed with donor recognition events and the YMCA Golf Classic.
  • Engage in YMCA activities in all service areas to assure working knowledge of community/branch needs
  • Oversees multiple outreach and needs-based initiatives that highlight the YMCA mission and live out YMCA strategic plan
  • Provide best practice guidance on partnerships and collaborations with YMCA branch leadership and community stakeholders
  • Interpret, communicate, and promote Y mission, goals, and objectives to employees, volunteer leaders, members, and the community.
  • Promote, foster and support the Y’scommitment to access, inclusion and engagement for all by engaging diverse populations in a welcoming environment.
  • Convene, inspire and engage Volunteer and Community Engagement Cabinet of staff representatives from each branch at least 6 times per year to discuss topics of pressing importance around volunteerism, community engagement and social responsibility
  • Liaison to development and marketing/communications departments incapturing (through interviews) and writing cause-driven stories and support pieces that go out to members, volunteers and donors.
  • Responds efficiently and with accurate information to inquiries and requests not requiring the attention of the Vice President of Strategic Development.
  • Maintains and protects highly confidential information and records.
  • Utilizes the fundraising database to record gifts and pledges, track prospects, coordinate mailings, and process reports as scheduled and requested.
  • Develops meaningful, mission-focused and sustainable relationships with members, donors, volunteers, and staff.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Vice President of Strategic Development and/or the Association President and CEO.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s Degree required.
Skills/Experience: 
  • 3-5 years of experience in a related field preferred.
  • Strong public relations and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Proven knowledge of grant writing and research.
  • Experience with donor management or similar relationship software preferred.
  • Experience with submitting grants to a variety of funders.
  • Proven history of strong decision making; both independent and discriminatory judgment.
  • Ability to produce consistent and accurate output on variety of assignments.
  • Ability to prioritize work assignments, routine tasks and special projects.
  • Ability to effectively and accurately deliver training and guidance to staff and volunteers at all levels.
  • Ability to exercise discretion, professionalism and appropriateness in behavior and in all forms of communication.
  • Existing relationships with local foundation and corporate contacts a plus.
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $50,000.00 - $63,000.00
