Summary of Position Purpose
Georgetown Preparatory School announces the position of Director of Development. The Director will be an integral part of the Georgetown Prep's leadership team and will be a member of the President’s Cabinet. The Director will be responsible for developing and implementing a broad fund-raising program designed to secure major gifts from members of all of the school's constituencies, including alumni, parents, past parents, foundations, corporations, and friends of the school. The Director will establish and implement a strategic program for the Development Department to identity, cultivate, solicit, recognize, and steward major donors.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Direct, maintain, and expand the annual, capital, endowed and planned giving programs of Georgetown Prep.
- Identify, educate, cultivate and solicit funding sources from the constituencies of Georgetown Prep including, but not limited to: alumni, parents, past parents, faculty and staff, foundations and friends.
- Work closely with the President and the Development Committee of the Board of Trustees to coordinate the advancement efforts of Georgetown Prep.
- Work closely with the Marketing and Communications Department to coordinate and plan alumni projects and events.
- Work with volunteers to ensure their programs are successful.
- Manage the staff of the Development Department.
- Serve as staff to the Development Committee of the Board of Trustees.
- Work with the Chief Financial Officer and Business Office to ensure all gifts and pledges are recorded properly.
- Provide reports to the President, the President’s Cabinet, the Board of Trustees and the Development Committee as needed.
- Prepare and submit annual budget recommendations to the Chief Financial Officer.
- Prepare with staff and maintain an annual plan of action and operational calendar for the Development Department.
- Share information about development projects and programs with the faculty and staff and collaborate efforts with them where appropriate.
- Attend conferences and classes as needed for professional development.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree; supplemented with seven (7) years of successful leadership experience in an administrative capacity.
- Annual and comprehensive Capital Campaign experience.
- Demonstrated success in fundraising and knowledge of methods and techniques in closing planned gifts.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge of computers and databases.
- Experience working with the leadership of volunteer boards and major donors from alumni, parents, corporations and foundations.
- Knowledge of various prospect research methods.
- Ability to develop and inspire a team of accomplished professionals in a collegial manner.
- Commitment to Catholic and Jesuit education.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to maintain high level of confidentiality.
- Ability to travel strategically and obtain results.
