NRDC seeks a Program Assistant (PA) to support the Senior Director, and several other senior level staff attorneys, of the New York Regional team in the Healthy People and Thriving Communities Program. The PA will be primarily responsible for administrative support for the attorneys and will work closely with them on issues including regional food law, drinking water, New York City environmental policy, and northeast fossil fuel issues. The position requires very strong organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to juggle multiple tasks and complex schedules.
Provide administrative support to lawyers and policy advocates in the New York Regional Division including:
- Scheduling and organizing numerous in-person and conference call meetings per week
- Preparing monthly American Express and personal reimbursement reports
- Tracking and updating the New York Regional budget throughout the fiscal year
- Processing contracts and invoices from consultants and outside vendors
- Making travel arrangements including transportation, lodging accommodations, and car rentals
- Assisting with drafting and posting staff blogs and public outreach
- Assisting with drafting of letters, reports, fact sheets and other written materials
- Working closely with the other PAs on the NY team and the Program to coordinate meetings, calls, program budget, etc.
- Responding to and directing inquiries from the general public and outside organizations
- Organizing annual and semi-annual retreats and/or conferences off-site
- Help with maintaining and organizing the New York Regional Team’s filing and archival systems
- Handling the administrative responsibilities of the Environmental Law Clinic, which is held at NRDC, during both the Fall and Spring semesters through NYU School of Law
- Occasional litigation assistance or social media work
- Highly organized and experienced in administrative tasks
- Knowledge of excel spreadsheets, database management, and experience with budget tracking is preferred
- High proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to manage complex schedules and different working styles
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment and good problem-solving skills
- Meticulous attention to detail
- Passion for environmental issues is strongly preferred
- Sense of humor strongly preferred
- Minimum two-year commitment
