The American Heart Association (AHA) has an excellent opportunity for a Part Time Managing Editor (approx. 20 hrs. per week) in our National Centeroffice. This position will be located in New York, NY .

Current funding for this role runs through 12/31/2018.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Actively participates in weekly project team meetings as Editorial representative; makes sure all appropriate editorial reviews are incorporated into project schedules.
  • Manages editorial staff, vendors, consultants, schedules, and processes to ensure timely delivery of high-quality content.
  • Acts as workflow manager for editorial work on domestic training products in all media, and on related materials such as exams, marketing collateral, training communications, and scientific articles. Reviews all editorial jobs and provides feedback and training to ensure high-quality work. Maintains dashboard of editorial jobs and provides weekly status reports.
  • Implements standards and tools to maximize efficiency and consistency across products.
  • Works with media developers to design efficient editorial review processes, including management of eBook conversion process.
  • Experience in developing training materials or continuing education programs (manuals, online courses, videos), preferably for healthcare providers.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s Degree in Communication, Science
Skills/Experience: 
  • (8) years of related experience in writing and editing healthcare or scientific material
  • Mastery of editorial standards (grammar, major medical/scientific style guides)
  • Strong experience in creating digital products
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs and Adobe Acrobat Pro
  • Staff Supervision
  • The ability to travel up to 10% throughout the year.
