This position operates with the guidance of the Director of Operations and is responsible for managing all phases of the Restore program. The Restore Director is responsible for the overall operations of the Restore and its financial growth.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Manage Restore Operations
  • Responsible for managing all aspects of the retail operations, ensuring consistent, smooth and efficient operation of two retail locations.
  • Responsible for driving donations, sales and profits.
  • Manage all Restore staff by directing, training, supervising in the performance of assigned duties.
  • Ensure high level customer service for our donors and customers.
  • Orient staff and volunteers to the mission of New Orleans Habitat and the Restore.
  • Ensure adequate training is provided to staff and volunteers.
  • Enhance the organizations’ culture by reinforcing core values and fostering a positive work environment.
  • Provide training resources for the staff.
  • Responsible for volunteer recruitment.
  • Maintain job descriptions for all staff, set goals, and implement procedures, guidelines and performance standard.
  • Conduct performance reviews.
  • Ensure appropriate communication flow.
  • Implement and update policies and procedures.
  • Ensure a safe work environment for staff, volunteers and customers.

Financial Management

  • In cooperation with the store managers and the Director of Operations and director of finance, develop and manage individual store budgets.
  • Maintain and analyze profit margins, sales, and sales per square foot, year over year sales comparisons, number of donations and associated costs, ROI of marketing expenses to sales, expenses as a percentage of sales, etc.
  • Ensure that Restore operates within the budget.
  • Provide reports on store performance and strategic projections. These reports can included earning per square foot, earnings per employee per hour, net cash forecasting, inventory turn, discounts, returns, earnings by department, value per item sold, etc.
  • Oversee, develop, and implement necessary policy and procedures relating to the operation of two stores, sales, salvage, material acquisition, customer service, donor management, volunteer management and staff.
  • Implement sound financial and cash practices.
  • Identify and initiate opportunities to reduce expenses and create operational efficiencies.
  • Ensure the Director of Operation is regularly informed of the status of the operation of the stores, project status and events.

Resource Development and Marketing

  • Develop and implement multi-year strategic plan for soliciting donations of potential suppliers and donors by targeting annual growth to meet long-term financial projections.
  • In coordination with the Restore Procurement Manager participate call on potential donors.
  • In coordination with the Restore Procurement Manager network to expand the scope of the NOAHH Restores activities and develop long-term relationships with business/trade groups, faith communities, contractors, businesses and other donors to secure donations and to raise the awareness of the Restore and the NOAHH affiliate in the community.
  • Market the Restore through the media in appropriate and cost-effective manner.
  • Coordinate and develop an ongoing comprehensive advertising and marketing program for the Restore, including print, social media, radio, etc.
  • Coordinate the advertising effort with NOAHH’s marketing department.

Other

  • Implement other duties as assigned by the Director of Operations.
  • Available outside usual business hours to implement programs and accomplish goals and tasks.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Must understand and appreciate the mission of New Orleans Area Habitat for Humanity and the New Orleans Area Habitat Restore.
  • Minimum 3 years retail operation and management experience.
  • Demonstrated independent responsibility for program management and accomplishing results by building and leading teams successfully.
  • Experience supervising staff, developing markets and marketing plans.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills.
  • Public speaking skills.
  • Must possess strong problem solving skill, the ability to work in a fast paced team environment, and the ability to multi-task.
  • Must be detail oriented and able to work independently.
  • Experience working with major donors.
  • Must possess the ability to effectively and professionally communicate with donors, staff volunteers and customers.
  • Ability to work in a safe manner.
  • Ability to effectively use excel, Microsoft Office.
  • Positive attitude.
  • Knowledge of construction, carpentry, and home repair preferred.
  • Ability to be flexible and adapt to a variety of work situations and interruptions.
  • Forklift experience preferred.
  • Current valid Louisiana driver's license and meet and adhere to NOAHH’s driving/driver’s policy.
  • Safely drive a 14’-26’ box truck and/or a small flatbed truck, preferred.
  • Ability to repeatedly lift and move 50lbs.
