As the leader of the Foundation, the President and Chief Development Officer oversees a comprehensive resource development program that includes:

  • Annual Giving
  • Planned Giving
  • Corporate and Foundation Partnerships
  • Marketing
  • Cause Related Marketing
  • Social Media & Digital Campaigns
  • Development Operations
  • Special Events

The President and CDO will be a highly strategic, creative, forward thinking, data-driven and results-oriented senior executive with at least 15 years of progressively responsible roles in philanthropic advancement.  This role reports directly to the Chair of the Foundation Board.

Crucial to the success of the President and CDO will be his/her ability to build and sustain meaningful relationships with key internal and external stakeholders; and bring expertise in both major gift fundraising internal staff management.

Leadership/Managerial

  • Lead and manage a multi-site development program and team
  • Provide strategic direction and leadership to the Foundation staff
  • Engage strong collaboration skills working within a diverse and matrixed organization to achieve common goals
  • Understand the importance of and appreciation for the Foundation culture and independence
  • Ability to function effectively in an increasingly complex health system environment
  • Work with and advise a high performing board of trustees and staff
  • Ability to think creatively and strategically
  • Organizational assertiveness to communicate the role of philanthropy and stewardship
  • Establish productive partnerships and relationships both internally and externally
  • Manage the foundation budget and work with the Foundation Board to ensure a high degree of effectiveness
  • Strong staff management skills that inspire others and set a positive culture of both mission and accountability
  • Ability to engage a geographically diverse network of business and community leaders 
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Progressive experience in related professional associations
  • Thought leader – able to maintain a strategic focus on “the big picture”
  • Able to delegate and empower staff to maximize performance

Fundraising

  • Philanthropic capabilities both state and nationwide
  • Create and implement a comprehensive development plan       
  • Ability to develop and execute major gift strategies
  • Proven track record at securing major gifts across multiple revenue sources
  • Comfortable with and capable of asking for and closing gifts at all levels

Organizational and Operational   

  • Capable of handling multiple projects simultaneously and effectively
  • Utilize technology to enhance data-driven strategies and decision making
  • Able to manage time and competing priorities effectively
  • Ability to achieve successful results in a complex and matrixed organizational environment
  • Astute with financial management and investment practices

Qualifications and Attributes

  • High energy, commitment, and passion to the organization's mission
  • Minimum of 15 years in non-profit leadership with progressively responsible fundraising and resource development experience
  • Demonstrated success in developing and managing relationships with individual donors, foundation, and corporate supporters
  • Flexible and adaptable style that can positively impact both strategic and tactical fundraising activities
  • Ability to work as a team player at varying levels of seniority, yet also comfortable working independently
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality at the highest level
Compensation/Benefits:

The salary range for this position is $275,000 - $325,000
