The YMCA of Middle TN is searching for a cause-driven leader to serve as Intervention Program Specialist in beautiful Nashville, TN!

Consistent with the Christian mission and vision of the YMCA of Middle TN, and in cooperation with other YMCA staff, under the direction of the YCAP Operations Executive, the Outreach Intervention Specialist is responsible for the administration, operation, and success of the Middle School Intervention program. This position will oversee all program direction and outcomes, including management of part-time, full-time and exempt staff, and achieve goals in partnership with the YMCA of Middle Tennessee as well as grant funders. Other responsibilities include fundraising, community relations, expense control, staff training and participant outcomes.

Areas of Responsibility:

  • Ensure safe and risk-free environment at all times while meeting the individual needs of the participants
  • Act as a role model, exhibit good judgment and have a strong awareness of safety; know and understand all emergency procedures
  • Coordinate all aspects of after school programming, as well as summer and fall camps
  • Recruit and engage youth with identified behavior challenges from select Metro Nashville Public Schools to ensure youth have access to the Positive Beginnings programming year-round
  • Conduct school and home visits for program participants on a weekly basis, to ensure the success of the student and keep open communication with the family/care-givers
  • Maintain accurate records using approved forms
  • Through a series of one-on-one meetings, work with each participant to develop his/her individual goal sheet quarterly, detailing the participant’s short and long-range goals and a step-by-step plan of action to assist the participant to reach his/her goals
  • Develop and/or secure program curriculum, plan and oversee daily activities, coordinate with volunteers, maintain records, and maintain grant requirements
  • Provide supervision and work direction to staff and play an important role in the hiring, on-boarding, training, and evaluation of staff. Address staff concerns as necessary; take part in evaluations with the Y-CAP Operations Executive
  • Manage and secure transportation for participants to/from program and field trips
  • Coordinate, maintain, and secure space for program – both on and off Y-CAP campus
  • Know, understand, train and execute all program policies and emergency procedures associated with the program
  • Travel to any secondary program locations when asked or needed to ensure the success of program activities
  • Manage all grant, budget, variance reports and forecasting within the guidelines of the YMCA of Middle Tennessee
  • Maintain accurate records to evaluate, control, and measure the effectiveness of assigned areas of responsibilities and to monitor participant progress by using data software provided
  • Prepare and submit required reports to any and all funding/grant sources accurately and timely
  • Models and puts into practice behavior that supports inclusion and diversity
  • Represents the YMCA and maintains appropriate relationships with area organizations, community leaders, and businesses
  • Represent the YMCA/Y-CAP and maintain appropriate relationships with Juvenile Court and Metro Nashville Public Schools
  • Attend staff meetings and training sessions
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Ensures all program schedules are completed satisfactorily in a timely manner, comply with the program schedule
  • Ensures outstanding customer/member services and meets the New Way to Work philosophy and Association Standards
Educational Background: 
High School diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Education or a related field preferred
Skills/Experience: 
  • Passion, enthusiasm, and commitment to the mission and cause of the YMCA
  • Superior supervisory skills and an enthusiastic personality with the ability to inspire and motivate staff, volunteers, members and participants to create a culture of service within our Centers
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community
  • Must present a professional image and possess conflict resolution skills, and demonstrate sound judgment and initiative
  • Must be highly organized with the ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality of information
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other software programs, as well as the ability to use most office equipment is required
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends
  • Minimum 21 years of age
  • Four years program experience and relevant experience in supervision and administration of programs required
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $43,374.00 - $54,217.00
