The YMCA of Middle Tennessee is searching for a cause-driven leader to serve as Regional Major Gifts Director in beautiful Nashville, TN!

Consistent with the Christian mission and vision of the YMCA of Middle TN, and in cooperation with other YMCA staff, under the direction of the Chief Development Officer, the Regional Major Gifts Directoriesresponsible for providing direct fundraising leadership to a regional cluster of YMCA Centers and programs and relates closely with the executives of the centers served. They will provide leadership for the Center Executives to which he/she will be assigned to guide each Center in developing and implementing a major gifts fundraising plan and work to accomplish goals therein. The major gifts plan will seek to complement the annual giving campaign and focus on the center’s highest priority needs.

Major Gift Fundraising

  • Be actively involved in the identification, cultivation, and solicitation of major gift prospects to support association priorities including annual support, capital and endowment
  • Manage a portfolio of relationships following a moves management process to move donors to higher levels of engagement and giving

Provide Major Gifts Support and Coaching for YMCA Centers

Working with Center Executives at his/her assigned YMCA centers, the Director of Major Gifts will:

  • Provide year-round, in-depth support, research, coaching and tracking to support major gifts
  • Develop strategies for the center’s leadership prospects to move them towards a major gift solicitation
  • Support the engagement and training of fundraising volunteers in the cultivation and solicitation process

Association-Wide Area of Expertise

Serve as part of the association philanthropy team providing expertise and input for the strategies, best practices, systems and implementation plans that are key to major gifts success including (but not limited to):

  • Case for Support Development
  • Board Development
  • Recruitment and Engagement Strategies for Major Gifts Volunteers
  • Major Gifts Training for Staff and Volunteers
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree preferred
Skills/Experience: 
  • Passion, enthusiasm, and commitment to the mission and cause of the YMCA
  • An enthusiastic personality with the desire to serve members, volunteers, guests, participants and staff to create a culture of service within our Centers
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community
  • Must present a professional image and possess conflict resolution skills, and demonstrate sound judgment and initiative
  • Must be detail-oriented and highly organized with the ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality of information
  • Possess strong verbal and written communications skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other software programs, as well as the ability to use most office equipment is required
  • Ability to travel to multiple locations and maintain a flexible schedule to meet with donors and attend special events
  • Minimum 18 years of age
  • Five years of direct major gifts experience preferred
  • Experience with, and understanding of, Raisers Edge, Microsoft Office and related programs
  • Multilingual a plus
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $57,362.00 - $71,702.00
