Consistent with the Christian mission and vision of the YMCA of Middle Tennessee, and in cooperation with other YMCA staff, under the Grant Manager, the Grant Writer will be responsible for the full range of activities required to write, prepare and submit proposals for external funding that supports YMCA programs and services. This position works to ensure proper submission and acceptance of external funded grants, contracts and donor/sponsor restricted funds.
Areas of Responsibility:

- Manage the full range of activities required to write, prepare and submit competitive proposals and reports for external funding including:
- Meeting requirements of the grants calendar and timelines for submission
- Securing program data from the Program Data Manager for proposals and reports
- Working with the Grants Accounting Manager to verify program budgets for proposals
- Ensuring that all programmatic grants applications contain appropriate outcomes/outputs and data collection processes verified by the Program Data Manager
- Following internal approval process and submission of approved proposal
- Assist in responses to audit or inquiry regarding any grant, contract, or other sponsored programs
- Support staff education on the regulations and characteristics of grant funding and how they are reflected in Sponsored Programs’ policies and procedures
- Attend pre-proposal conference/webinar and prepares and submits Letter of Intent to sponsor. Communicates with sponsor (ask questions, clarify issues, build relationships, etc.)
- Assist in sponsored programs training activities for YMCA staff
Educational Background:
Bachelor’s degree required, graduate degree preferred

- Passion, enthusiasm, and commitment to the mission and cause of the YMCA
- An enthusiastic personality with the ability to inspire and motivate staff, volunteers, members and participants to create a culture of service within our Centers
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community
- Must present a professional image and possess conflict resolution skills and demonstrate sound judgment, initiative, versatility, and independent thinking
- Must be highly organized with the ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks
- Must be able to maintain confidentiality of information
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other software programs, as well as the ability to use most office equipment is required
- Minimum 18 years of age
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience
Compensation/Benefits:
Salary: $43,374.00 - $54,217.00
