We have an exciting opportunity for a HEART GALA SALES/FUNDRAISING DIRECTOR for our NASHVILLE, TNmarket. Working out of our Nashville office, this position will be responsible for driving fundraising growth for the annual HEART BALL campaign through Campaign Chair recruitment, solicitation of sponsorships and major gifts, volunteer committee recruitment, new business development and representation of the American Heart Association mission in the community. Will work in partnership with local fundraising and event staff, volunteers and other staff members.
Areas of Responsibility:
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Solicits and maintains high-level corporate sponsors & philanthropic donors by developing a year-round engagement plan ensuring superior customer relation.
- Responsible for the achievement of the Heart Gala financial goal and for the achievement of the objectives in volunteer development, management and corporate sponsorship cultivation; monitors and fulfills both procurement and meeting financial goals.
- Instrumental in building recruitment committees and executive leadership committees to solicit high level campaign Chairs and working committees.
- Assists in the development of a strategic fundraising plan for the Heart Gala campaign, including goal setting, market potentials, objectives, strategies, evaluation and cost of effective techniques.
- Planning, development, maintenance, implementation and evaluation of assigned fundraising events according to best practices and event timelines.
- Develops corporate relationships to enhance Metro-wide special events and programs.
- Volunteer recruitment, orientation and training.
- Works as part of a team to consult with staff and volunteers on all aspects of campaign fundraising.
- Helps prepare an annual budget to support event plans and activities.
- Establishes and maintains an effective database and cultivation plan for corporate and philanthropic prospects and donors.
- Maintains timely communication with all staff at local and affiliate levels, and helps ensure all event related deadlines are met.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Willingness and ability to travel throughout the market and work occasional evenings and weekends.
Educational Background:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
Skills/Experience:
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- At least two years' experience in a similar non-profit organization in a fund-raising position, or two years proven success in marketing, sales, event planning, fundraising or new business development.
- Knowledge and skills in fundraising principles, practices and techniques.
- Ability and experience to recruit, train, counsel, and manage volunteer groups and to develop long range organizational goals.
- Ability to organize and prioritize multiple projects.
- Ability to comprehend and analyze number goals, as well as fundraising reports.
- Ability to apply sound judgment and problem-solving skills.
- Skill in making presentations to large and small audiences.
- Ability and willingness to travel within assigned geographical territory, to work occasional evenings and weekends.
- Must have a valid driver's license.
THIS POSITION WILL REQUIRE PERIODIC TRAVEL THROUGHOUT THE DESIGNATED BUSINESS MARKETS.
