The Office and Sales Assistant is responsible for supporting all aspects of the operations of the center including guest services, admissions, Nature Store and Gallery Café,  customer service, membership sales, adding merchandise into the inventory system and other technical aspects of operations. They will assist the Nature Store Manager with daily tasks as assigned including merchandise orders and returns, office and administrative work and oversight of general operations.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Strive for profitability by serving as a knowledgeable, courteous, and helpful assistant;
  • Maintain accurate cash control;
  • Balance daily cash drawer at end of shift;
  • Support all retail operations at the Sanctuary;
  • Restock all needed supplies at admissions desk, tea room, and store as needed;
  • Data entry into point-of-sale system;
  • Merchandise quality control;
  • Handling of returns;
  • Provide assistance with merchandise pricing;
  • Create flyers for special events;
  • Provide the highest level of customer service for all Sanctuary visitors;
  • Troubleshoot technology problems such as Wi-Fi, credit card machines, and rotating electronic photo gallery;
  • Assist with the planning and operations of special events conducted by Audubon;
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of the National Audubon Society and its associated activities;
  • Develop an understanding for the ecology and natural history of Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary;
  • Commit to predetermined schedules, coverage and daily operations;
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Educational Background: 
High School Diploma;
Skills/Experience: 
  • Two years of sales and/or administrative experience preferred;
  • Superior customer service skills;
  • Ability to handle cash and receipts accurately;
  • Knowledge of merchandise inventory system;
  • Strong computer skills (Windows, Excel, Publisher, Power Point, routers, Wi-Fi networks, etc.);
  • Excellent communication skills;
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds;
  • Flexibility and able to calmly handle challenges.
