Sales Coordinator/Assistant Sales Manager

Reporting to the Sales Manager at the Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary and Blair Audubon Center, the Coordinator/Assistant Manager will be responsible for helping to oversee and coordinate the daily functions of the on-site nature store to ensure operational success.  S/he acts as a leader for the Sales team members and is seen as an effective communicator and supporter of the store's operations.

Areas of Responsibility: 

Under the guidance of the Sales Manager, s/he will:

  • Be responsible for bookkeeping and financial duties, to include quality checking deposit batches and counting cash, creating reports, and helping to manage cash controls and associated policies. Double check daily deposit batches.
  • Ensure that all accounts payable and receivable items are sent to the state office in Miami in a timely manner; maintain store records and keep data organized.
  • Help onboard, supervise, train and mentor Sales Clerks.
  • Assist with inventory counts, item reordering and pricing of new merchandise, as needed.
  • Manage the master calendar for the nature store to ensure shift coverage.
  • Provide exceptional customer services, to include responding to email/phone/in-person inquiries or concerns.
  • Help back up the Sales Clerks during busy periods by working the cash register and interfacing with customers; help open and close down the store as directed by the Sales Manager.
  • Understand Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary and Audubon, including working knowledge of the local environment and environmental issues.
  • Assist with classroom reservations, contracts and payments, when primary person is on vacation.
  • Support signature event and other development events as necessary.
  • Support membership sales.
  • Process membership transmittals when primary person is on vacation.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s Degree preferred, or minimum of 3 years of experience with retail management, managing staff, and bookkeeping.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Self -driven with the ability to work well in a team setting as well as unsupervised.
  • Very organized with ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to set- up processes that guide store activities.
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse group of people.
  • Knowledge of retail operations.
  • Knowledge of bookkeeping practices and procedures.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products and comfortable working in databases.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Nonprofit experience with environmental organizations a plus.
  • Commitment to conservation and mission of Audubon Florida.
  • Willingness to work weekends and/or flexible schedule including evenings year round.
